Dance T-Shirt Quilt + Tips

Peggy made this quilt for her granddaughter who has done a lot of dance!

The quilting is an edge-to-edge called "Allegiance".

Some of the fun blocks! Love how great the stars look with all these blocks.

The backing is a striped flannel.

T-shirt quilts can be heavy, due to the extra layer of interfacing, plus the knit shirt fabric weighs more than quilt weight fabric. Here are some tips for lightening things up:

1. Use the lightest weight fusible interfacing you can find. The t-shirt just needs some stability so it won't get pushed out of shape by the hopping foot while quilting.

2. I recommend using Quilter's Dream Batting Polyester. It's lighter weight than cotton batting. And unlike other polyester batting, Quilter's Dream Batting is super soft and flexible.

3. I use lighter weight thread for the quilting. My preference is Glide 60 weight. It sinks in, doesn't stand out on the quilt top and remains soft and flexible.

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy
