May Minikins Challenge ✅

Sara at Sew Sweetness is having a different challenge each month with her Minikins patterns. The Minikins are 12 patterns, with step-by-step videos, of small bags that are fun to make and use, or give as gifts.

Sara's Minikins challenge for May is the Grab and Go Sleeve, a custom sized sleeve with handles, for a device or book.

I made mine for our iPad, using Tula Pink's new All-Stars "Tail Feathers" print, with Tula's orange "Pom-Pom" for lining. I quilted the exterior fabric on my longarm with Soft & Stable before cutting it out.

I'm glad I put the optional Peltex in at the very end--it holds its shape so nice!

You can find sew many cute, inspiring Grab and Go Sleeves on parade at Sara's blog. Sewists come up with so many great variations and different fabrics. Check them out here!

  3. that is such a cute bag... I'm still sitting on the fence about the minikins bundle. *sigh it's just more of an investment that i'm willing to spending knowing I don't sit down and make bags very often. But man is that cute!

  4. Very nice! Do you like quilting on Soft and Stable? I like the way it looks but it's not very fun for me, and I'm not sure why!

  5. Love it, Nancy! It’s even prettier than a Vera Bradley bag.

  6. Oh my, your bag is gorgeous! I would love to have some bags like that but don't think I have the patience to make one. How long does it take to make?

    1. Janice, I quilted the fabric one day and sewed the bag together on another day. Just take it one step at a time!

  10. Step by step videos you say? I've never been able to successfully complete a purse with just instructions. Beginning to think I'm 3D sewing challenged. This little iPad tote is so cool! Congrats on your finish :)
