Baby Quilt For Nathan

This quilt was sent off recently to a newborn FFA. His parents are great friends of ours and run a dairy farm.

When this farm tractor fabric came into Quilt Cove, our LQS, where I work, I bought one yard and made it into a wholecloth baby quilt, with borders.

I used an edge-to-edge design for the quilting, called Labyrinth. The backing is from my favorite backing source: IKEA. 60" wide.

Grace and peace to you.

I Heart "X" Blocks

Here's a mini I made recently:

The block is called "Raspberry Kiss". It's super simple and quick. The block tutorial is at Wooden Spoon Quilts.

I quilted it with straight line quilting on my longarm, using Superior Threads Metallics.

I entered it in our recent Dakota County Star Quilters quilt show.

Now it's making me happy, hanging in our kitchen.

Grace and peace to you.

I ❤︎ Plus Quilts!

This quilt pattern is called "Spring Fling" by Emily Dennis. It's from my new favorite magazine--Love Patchwork and Quilting, issue 32.

I quilted it using one of my favorite edge-to-edge designs/pantographs, Marmalade.

The original has a solid grey background. I used Kona Taupe, as that's what I had in my studio.

The prints are all Japanese inspired--cranes, cherry blossoms, bamboo, kanji, etc.

The backing is from IKEA--60" wide, so no piecing! It came in a 3 meter cut.

Bamboo batting makes this sofa throw super soft.

Leftover Blocks = Baby Quilt

I had 15 leftover blocks from my Bob and Weave quilt, as seen on my previous post. I tried several arrangements:

I went with the last one. I custom quilted it, after taking several classes from Judi Madsen, of Green Fairy Quilts. She taught two full days of classes at the Upper Midwest Machine Quilters Guild in October, 2015.

The finished quilt:

And the back: (Japanese sateen fabric from Yuzawaya, Kichijoji, Japan)

Starting a Blog

Hello world! I'm a machine quilter and I'm starting a blog!

Here's one of my latest quilts. The pattern is from Gudrun Erla's book Strip Your Stash. I custom quilted it myself, similar to the sample in the book, which was quilted by Angela Walters. It won 1st Place, Viewer's Choice at our Dakota County Star Quilters quilt show in May, 2016!

The backing is from IKEA--60" wide. It's an African-look fabric, trees and leaves, that came in a 3 meter cut.

Grace and peace to you.
