Here's a new row-by-row quilt by Annemarie Yohnk! She has this new pattern in her booth, Quilts Remembered, at Quilt Market 2016, in Houston right now. She has been adding on to her pattern line for 10 years and has 50 patterns--7 new ones for this market.
Annemarie and I are in a small quilt group together. I quilted this for her with one of my favorite free motion quilting designs:
The pattern features civil war repro fabrics. Then she made this modern version for her booth at Quilt Market.
Annemarie has a longarm and normally does all of her own quilting. But in a pinch of time, she asked me to quilt this modern version for her. Here's a link to her booth all set up and ready to show--super cute, and wall-to-wall quilts!
I love how she sashed her modern version with dark grey and bordered it with the lighter grey!
Annemarie does lectures, workshops, classes and trunk shows all across the US. Contact her if your guild or shop is looking for a great quilt speaker!

Baby Quilt Palooza!!!
Jan had me quilt 8 baby quilts for her! No baby on the way, but she wants them finished and ready to give generously.
Here's the first one I quilted for her, a sort of lion king panel. The quilting is "Marmalade".
The backing has bees, and coordinates with the panel!
Baby quilt #2 is actually a piece of super cute fabric, featuring Linus and his famous blankie! I used an edge-to-edge with stars called "Allegiance".
The backing is colorful dots!
Baby quilt #3 is a panel of jungle animals. I did a freehand meander over it.
The backing is a soft yellow plaid.
Baby quilt #4 has more jungle animals! This edge-to-edge design is called "Coil".
Backing features African animals!
Baby quilt #5 is another jungle panel. I quilted it with an edge-to-edge called "Modernish 3".
Backing is a solid yellow.
Baby quilt #6 was the largest one. Another panel quilt with added borders. I quilted "Fern Meander" across it.
The backing is yellow with yellow dots:
Baby quilt #7 is a panel with 15 squares and borders added. I quilted it with "Fern Meander".
The backing was pieced to get the correct size, but mainly the confetti fabric.
And last but not least, baby quilt # 8--six leaping frog squares pieced together log cabin style!!!
I quilted it with an edge-to-edge design called "Oscillating Circles"--kind of looks like water ripples on a pond!
And the backing features woodland animals.
I worked on these interspersed over two months time. Jan will be well prepared for any baby shower! Thanks for letting me quilt for you, Jan!!!

The Big Reveal!
We have a great machine quilters guild in the Twin Cities (MN) called Upper Midwest Machine Quilters. We have been meeting 4 times a year. We're moving it up to 6 meetings a year in 2017.
One of our activities this year was to do four "row by row" quilts. The guidelines were simple: when the quilt comes to you, add a 9"-12" strip of solid fabric and do that famous (infuriating?!) thing--"quilt as desired".
I was the 4th one working on our quilt, and added a gradated strip of fabric from my stash. Here's a photo of my work while still on my longarm machine.
We recently had the big reveal! And here is our quilt, all bound and finished!
Here's a photo of the last 3 rows. The quilter after me also used a type of gradated fabric.
And the quilt from the back, where you can sometimes see the quilting better.
Another one of the quilts worked on by our group:

And the third quilt:
And the back:
It was a great experience. We are all different levels of quilters--from new to longtimers, private quilters to professional quilters and hand-guided quilters to computerized quilters.
A fourth quilt is still circulating. They will all get binding and labels. We are still deciding what we'll do with them--raffle, drawing, fundraiser?!

Star Crossed, Plus a Bear
Here is a beautiful quilt, made by my quilting cousin, Sue! The pattern is Star Crossed by Color Girl Quilts--Sharon McConnell.
Sue used her Tula Pink fabric stash and came up with a vibrant modern quilt. The edge-to-edge quilting design I quilted it with is called Marmalade. It is a fun, swirly design that adds great movement over the quilt top.
And here's one of my Mother Bear teddy bears that has recently made the trip over the ocean to live with a child in Africa. I crocheted this teddy bear in January, 2015, so it's been on a journey.
