Hedgehog Baby Quilt

Isn't this a sweet and simple baby quilt?!! Sherri made it for a baby boy that will make his grand entrance in September.

The hedgehog fabrics come from Quilt Cove, where I work a couple days a week. The quilting is "Labyrinth".

This quilt is 44" X 39 1/2" and uses the full width of the fabric.

The backing is flannel and the batting is 100% cotton, so this quilt is super soft!

Such a simple, elegant baby quilt. Great job, Sherri!

Stonehenge Quilt

Jane made this quilt from a Stonehenge jelly roll.

It reminds me of earth and rock.

I quilted "Labyrinth" on it. I felt like I was quilting a winding path up a mountain, above the tree line.

The backing is also Stonehenge, in black. I used Glide thread in Medium Brown.

Great quilt, Jane!

Modern Grays

Vickie made this quilt for her daughter, who requested "modern"!

On the bars...

Sticking with the modern theme, I quilted it with Figure 8s. Denyse Schmidt, considered by some to be the mother of modern quilting, made Figure 8 quilting popular. Here's one of her quilts.

Vickie used quite a variety of grays--prints, mottled, batiks and Kaffe Fassets.

The backing is an extra-wide gray swirl.

Love the alternate mix of nine-patches with curved pieced blocks! Great job, Vickie!!!

Candy Cane Quilt In Black & White

This is Mary's latest quilt!

On the rails...

The pattern is called "Candy Cane" and is from Quilts And More magazine, Winter 2016 issue. It's a jelly roll friendly quilt, although Mary made hers from 2 fabrics.

She chose "Slick" for the edge-to-edge quilting.

The backing is black with a silver scroll design.

Beautiful quilt, Mary!!!

Two More

I have two more client quilts for show and tell. The first one is Jan's, who is the maker of the recent Animal ABC's quilt here.

Jan made another quilt for another grandson. She used a pattern by Blue Underground called Rear Window. She added Super Hero fabrics to the mix, to make it more her grandson's wavelength.

The quilting is "Allegiance", stars and stripes to tie in with the Super Hero theme.

The back is another pieced quilt in itself!

Great job, Jan!!!

And here is Dorothy's quilt. Dorothy loves bright, cheerful fabrics and dots

She used an infinite amount of fabrics in this quilt, all with dots of different shapes and sizes!

The quilting is "Cinnamon"--basically giant dots!

The backing is this super trendy fabric from Tula Pink's latest fabric line, Tabby Road

 Super fun quilt, Dorothy!!!

A Summer Flurry of Quilts

My Clients have been sewing up a flurry of quilts this summer! Here are three I've quilted for them recently:

This is Alice's quilt. There's quite a bit of piecing going on here! Beautiful bright colors!

This is one of Michele's creations. She chose "Cinnamon" for her edge-to-edge quilting.

The backing is a super soft navy flannel.

Sharon made this patriotic quilt for her son who is a US Marine.

Isn't this a great patriotic pattern?!

The quilting is "Allegiance"--stars and stripes.

The backing she chose is a military green batik.

The size is 85" X 97".

Scandinavian Fish

My latest personal finish!!!

It's a pattern from the latest Modern Patchwork magazine--July/August, 2017. (Llama sticky bookmark is from Daiso Japan/USA.)

Their version is a pillow called "Red Herring Pillow", inspired by Scandinavian graphics.

I used a variegated blue fabric, and cut my fish out from different parts of the same piece of fabric. This was arrangement #1,

And arrangement #2.

Number 1 got the most votes from my screened audience. The quilting is matchstick quilting on my longarm. No channel lock used--that's too much trouble for this much stitching.

The thread is Superior Threads Metallics, also variegated.

The binding was made from a chevron fat quarter I had on hand.

The backing is two Japanese fish fabrics purchased in Tokyo and pieced together.

My 14th finish for 2017!
