My latest personal finish!!!
It's a pattern from the latest Modern Patchwork magazine--July/August, 2017. (Llama sticky bookmark is from Daiso Japan/USA.)
Their version is a pillow called "Red Herring Pillow", inspired by Scandinavian graphics.
I used a variegated blue fabric, and cut my fish out from different parts of the same piece of fabric. This was arrangement #1,
Number 1 got the most votes from my screened audience. The quilting is matchstick quilting on my longarm. No channel lock used--that's too much trouble for this much stitching.
The thread is Superior Threads Metallics, also variegated.
The binding was made from a chevron fat quarter I had on hand.
The backing is two Japanese fish fabrics purchased in Tokyo and pieced together.
My 14th finish for 2017!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

Perfect use of the ombre fabric! And I love the straight line quilting! Great job!
ReplyDeleteOh I need to find that magazine! I need to make this for a friend. I love it -- well done!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun use of your gradient fabric! The backing is perfect, as well--love it all!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable little quilt! What will you use it as? Wallhanging? Placemat? The binding is perfect ... I need to find myself some chevron and striped fabric so I can make these eye-popping bindings too. If you use matchstick quilting without a channel lock, do you use a ruler? Or do you freehand it? It looks great!
ReplyDeleteAll the design choices on this quilt are just perfect! GREAT FINISH!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this - the fabrics, the quilting, the pattern. I love that ombré fabric!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteThis is just lovely. The fabric choice is great - I love the variegated blues. The quilting and the backing fabric are just perfect as well. That chevron binding was just the finishing touch. ~smile~ Roseanne

ReplyDeleteCongrats on a fun and pretty finish. Love the straight line quilting.
ReplyDeleteI love its simplicity. Great use of ombre fabric--I frequently am not quite sure what to do with those, and using them separately but together is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI am appreciating it very much! Looking forward to another great blog.sand hollow fishing tips
