Susie's Double Take

Susie loved this fabric line so much, that she made two quilts out of it! Both quilts are for her son, who likes his quilts thick, heavy and warm. And who wouldn't, at this time of the year in Minnesota!

This first one I quilted for her is a disappearing 9-patch:

Modern Circles + Baby Quilt

I made this mini for our guild's silent auction, to be held at our upcoming quilt show, February 13 through March 9, 2018, at Dakota County Historical Society Museum, South St. Paul, MN.

It was totally inspired by Cassandra's 9-Patch Circles at The Not So Dramatic Life blog.
I made a similar one myself in 2016, inspired by a pillow in Modern Patchwork magazine:

T-Shirt Quilt Extraordinaire

This is Deb's third t-shirt quilt. I'd say she's become quite a pro at the puzzle work of t-shirt quilts!

I did freemotion quilting, block by block. Here are some of my favorite blocks:

The quilting on this is "Fascination":

The 52 Charity Quilt Challenge 五⼗二枚

Laura, at Slice of Pi Quilts, stunned the quilt blogosphere when she announced she plans on making 52 charity quilts in 2018! I have been planning on making more charity quilts in 2018, maybe 12, one per month. Then I read Laura's blog and upped it to 24, two per month. Well, with more thought, I'm going to try and join Laura in making 52 charity quilts in 2018! Here's my first:

The pattern is "Simple Gifts" from this little booklet by the Modern Quilt Studio:

😺 A Sunny Cat Quilt

Sunny, a member of my quilt guild, Dakota County Star Quilters, made this "I Spy" quilt using the "Quilted Jewel Template" and accompanying pattern. The template and a dozen + patterns are designed by Sandi Irish of Irish Chain, and a co-worker at Quilt Cove.

Every diamond has a cat fabric! I quilted it with "Linda's Folk Garden" which has a 102" repeat across. That really adds variety to the quilting.

🍂 Connecticut Countryside Quilt 🍁

Kim, my co-worker at Quilt Cove, made this cuddly flannel quilt for her friends who live in the countryside of Connecticut:
She requested "leafy, swirly quilting". I quilted it with "Falling Leaves", which has many different leaf types, with swirls between:

▨ Simple Squares ▧

I used up most of my stash of charm squares in making sewing kits for Operation Christmas Child last fall. You can see those 50 sewing kits here

But I still had a stack of Christmas charms hanging around. As we hit the Christmas season, I got the urge to sew them all together into a quilt of simple squares. Here's the finished product:

The back is pieced together from stash. If you look closely, those are Christmas teddy bears in the upper right corner:

💥 Nova 💥

I finished binding this quilt at 11:59 PM on December 31, 2017! The pattern is Nova by Gudrun Erla.

I quilted it with an edge-to-edge called "Verve". Wool batting makes the quilting stand out even more, along with being lightweight and warm:
