My neighbor, Patty, made another quilt for one of her grandchildren. This one is for 4-year-old Hank, and features trucks, trucks, trucks!
I recommended "African Storms" for the quilting, as it resembles tire tread marks:

π Dorothy's Modern Quilt π
My friend, Dorothy, made this beauty of a modern quilt! It's not her usual style. She loves dots--check out her quilt here, the second one on that blog post. This quilt top was a kit given to her by her niece, who also bought one for herself while they were on clearance at Bear Patch Quilting.
First of all, about that beautiful fabric. It's digitally printed:

π° Crocheted Selvage Rug π°
The ninth item I entered at the county fair this past week is a crocheted rug, made of 1" selvage strips cut from quilt fabric. It received a red second place ribbon:
Judge's comments: "Nice mix of colors. Watch ends of pieces--they should not show."
BTW, the judge made the same comment on my selvage rug last year! I don't think those ends can be any more hidden! You can read about my first selvage rug here.
I started my second selvage rug just after the county fair last year, so it took me one year of quilting to accumulate enough selvages to finish a rug. Here's my first and second rugs, side by side:

County π‘ Fair Recap 2019
Like many of you, I grew up in 4-H, entering things I sewed, crocheted and baked in our county fair. Years later, when the county fair rolls around, I still have this overwhelming urge to enter my handmade items!

π Blossoms & Jam π
This definitely qualifies as a squirrel project for me! I saw this table center on Instagram, here.
I immediately downloaded the pattern and started sorting through my 2 1/2" squares to make a pair of "Blossoms & Jam" table centers!
Here's what I learned while I made these two table centers:

⛪️Church Window ηͺ QAL ⼳
Brittany of Lo & Behold Stitchery, released a new pattern, Church Window, in June, which I promptly fell in love with! I just finished a QAL (quilt along) with 400+ other quilters, making this beautiful quilt. Here's a photo journal of my weekly progress. Continue to the end to see my finished Church Window quilt with real church windows!
Week 1--fabric pull. I used a Zen Chic Bella Solids bundle, fabrics on left in photo below. I added the fabrics on the right, to get the count up to the required 18 fat quarters:
Week 2--cut out fabrics. Those 45 degree angles are easy to cut with a regular rotary cutting ruler that has a 45 degree line:

⤐ Tracie's Choose Your Own Adventure ⬷
If you read Tracie blog over at Riceford Streams, you've caught the excitement she shares about finishing this quilt top! I enjoyed it's beauty while quilting it up for her.
We tossed around a few ideas for the quilting, and settled on a modern clamshell design, Random Clams:
