Charity Quilts 6, 7, 8 and 9

My sister, niece and I delivered 13 baby quilts to Jack's Basket recently, an NPO that celebrates babies with Down Syndrome. This is my niece, Gretchen, with Carissa, the director of Jack's Basket and mother of Jack.

Here are six of the baskets ready to be delivered, full of fun items to bless and encourage the new parents:

These two quilts were made by two friends, both of whom are involved in the Barnabas Ministry at their church, a ministry to families with disabled children.

Wendy's Triple Play

Having three quilt tops prepped and ready for the longarmer is a great accomplishment, and that's just what Wendy had for me.

This first quilt is Wendy's version of the 2017-2018 Scraptamer's mystery quilt, from Glad Creations Quilt Shop. Don't you love the pink/yellow/grey palette of batiks she used?!

Take Time To Smell The Roses...

And work on a quilt... This rose quilt is what Kim has been working on, made for her sister who loves birds and is a beekeeper.

The quilting design I used is "Climbing Rose", by Sophie Collier, a local designer and fellow member of Upper Midwest Machine Quilters. She will be teaching a class there from her book, "Around and Around She Goes", on March 10, 2018.

Aren't these roses and rosebuds in the quilting design a beautiful mix with the rose fabrics:

Southwest Beauty

Ardene's nephew gave her this quilt top, made by his mother, Ardene's sister-in-law, who was an active quilter. She had it quilted in her memory.

The colors, turquoise, fuchsia and tan, give it a southwest feel. It was made while spending the winters in Arizona:
