Sayonara 2018! 🐶 Yōkoso 2019! 🐗

Welcome 2019! Here's a Grace and Peace Quilting review of 2018 and what's to come in 2019, the year of the wild boar in Japan. First, 2018:

I quilted 136 quilts in 2018, 75 of my own quilts and 61 quilts for others.

Of my own 75 quilts, here is the breakdown:
2 Queen size quilts
8 Twin/throw size quilts
53 Baby quilts
4 Miniature quilts
2 Table runners
6 Pieces of fabric for handbags

I have quilted a total of 551 quilts on my APQS Freedom longarm quilting machine since it arrived in June, 2012. The last one, number 551, is a Giant Plus Block quilt. The blocks were given to me as a surprise from friends in my small group for my birthday in October!

Here are my "Best 9" from Instagram in 2018. They are all my own quilts with the exceptions of Missy Voight's quilt in the top row, far right, and my sister, Quilter Bonnie's, quilt in the middle row far right.

One of the benefits of working at Quilt Cove is that during the month of our anniversary of starting working there, we can make one purchase at 50% off. My anniversary month is September. Here's what I purchased in 2018, and will enjoy using in 2019:
I made a limited edition easel quilt calendar for 2019 via Shutterfly, featuring some of the quilts I made in 2018:

A couple of my quilty Christmas highlights include this bundle of low volume fabrics from my DH:
And this Bonnie Hunter Quilter's Date Keeper from my quiltin' cousin:
While sewing this year I Iistened to 120 books, via RBdigital, Hoopla and thanks to DH, who read aloud to us during sewing evenings! I keep track of my books on Goodreads:

In 2018, our DD1, Johanna, married a wonderful young man, Tyler. Here they are with their 2 adorable, fun dogs, Fozzie and Lincoln:
In 2019, our DD2, Susanna, will leave on an 11 month mission trip to 11 countries, the World Race. Her first month will be in Japan, country of her childhood and heart.
Some plans I have for 2019, the year of the wild boar:
~Finish my Gypsy Wife quilt--the blocks are on the design wall
~a SAL with my Scrapbagger friends
~the Minnesota Quilters "Global Inspiration" Cherrywood fabrics challenge
~make more quilts using my Tula Pink collection and my Japanese fabrics collection

  4. Nancy I am so impressed and exhausted. The number of quilts and quilting you have done are amazing. I had planned to go back and see how many quilts I've done over the few years of quilting for me. Your family has wonderful things that happened last year and many more for the coming year. Happy New Year to you and yours!

  7. Didn't 2018 go fast, but look at all of the great things you created. Amazing! I wonder if I start keeping stats if I will produce more;-) I'm inspired to find out. I'm a audio book fiend too. I am currently 'ready' the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series by Louise Penny. Good luck with your 2019 goals.

  9. I love your Shutterfly calendar - great idea! How wonderful to sew so many quilts and still have time to get through that many books! I keep track of my books on Goodreads also: 15 this year. My daughter says I too should get on board with audio books. Not sure about that since I tend to need to focus my all on my sewing. Scared I'll run over my fingers! Lol! Happy New Year!

  11. What a great compendium of 2018. It looks like it was a terrific year for you and your family. I particularly like your "snake" quilt (I assume made with Drunkard Path blocks and the second from the left on the top row -- looks like a celebration to me! Now let's get our 2019 off to a great start by piecing and quilting.

  14. You have had an action packed year! I don't know how you keep track of every little thing, but the stats are amazing! I made a calendar for my husband through Shutterfly for Christmas, it's so easy! Your quilt calendar is brilliant...I wonder if my husband would like one for next year instead of beach/tropical pictures!
