Jack's Basket, where babies with Down syndrome are celebrated, has welcomed 118 babies in 2019 into this world! That makes over 1,300 baskets given out since Carissa Caroll, founder and mother of Jack, who has Down syndrome, gave out the first basket on Jack's first birthday. Read to the end to see how you can help out.
We had the honor of delivering 31 baby quilts to Jack's Basket in February, "we" being my sister, niece, nephew, and I, pictured here along with a mother/daughter duo that work/volunteer at Jack's Basket. BTW, they are the aunt and grandmother of a young girl with Down syndrome.
These are nine quilts I had ready to bring in:
Here are our 31 quilts, all sorted out for boys or girls. A big thanks to my sister and quilt friends, who helped make these quilts for Jack's Basket!
Now, Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict blog, has a charity quilt event every year called Hands2Help Comfort Quilt Challenge, where she features 5 charities that can use donated quilts. One of the charities for 2019 is Jack's Basket! Sign up on the link above by March 10th and send your quilt/quilts by May 31. Follow Sarah's blog for link-ups and encouragement along the way.
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

This is great that Sarah's Hands2Help will feature Jack's Basket! Love that you made so many quilts for them, Nancy. Thanks for your kindness and generosity; I'm sure the families who receive them will love them!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Wendy! Yeah for Jack's Basket for hooking up with Sarah. Thanks for sharing your quilts and introducing me to this great charity. Sent 3 last week more to come after our move.
ReplyDeleteI, too, was so excited to see JB on the list for H2H! Such a great charity and sewing up little quilts is fun :)
ReplyDeleteI love the little quilts you make for Jack's Baskets! Do you pre-wash the FQ's? They look like a fun and easy project for my scraps, remnants, and odd FQ's and as a longarm quilter, I have a goal to make at least one quilt this year for a charity. Last year was Quilts Beyond Borders. This year I think Jack's Basket would be appropriate and I could do three small quilts at a time on my longarm. My little sis is celebrating 51 years of life. She has Down Syndrome and my parents were told she would never make it past her teens.
ReplyDeleteHi Sally. This is Nancy's sister Bonnie. So grateful to hear about your little sister and your parents obvious love for her. My daughter with Down syndrome is 20 and is such a sweet blessing to me.
DeleteSo generous of you to make so many quilts for such a wonderful cause. Babies with Down syndrome are a blessing.

I would love to make some quilts for Jack’s basket. I like the ones you show. Can you do you have directions for how to make that particular kind, I assume with fat quarters.
