Butterflies on a Quilt & on Flowers

Judi made this super cute quilt for her 5 year old granddaughter!

She used a layer cake of 30's repro fabrics featuring a lot of cute children's scenes.

The backing is a pink double-sided microfiber plush fabric.

The quilting is "Butterfly Garden" and shows up best on the following photo. It includes butterflies, leaves, hearts, curls, feathers and loops.

Super cute quilt, Judi! It will be so cuddly for your granddaughter.

While I was quilting "Butterfly Garden" on this quilt, I noticed there were about 20 Painted Lady butterflies on some flowers right outside the window I was working at! Here are a couple in close-up.

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  1. Judi has a very blessed granddaughter to get such a sweet quilt. The fabrics and pattern are so cute. The quilting is the perfect compliment.
What a site to see so many butterflies together in your backyard. Neat!

  2. I have the same fabric (charm packs purchased I think from Craftsy at a great price) that I'm going to do the same pattern. How fun to see it done to motivate me to finally make it for my granddaughter. I love the quilting. Thanks for sharing.

  3. This is just darling! The quilting is perfect for it and it will be well-loved, for sure!

  4. Oh that's beautiful - I love the quilting too, and how perfect to have the real thing on the windowsill for inspiration!

  5. So sweet! Someone has a butterfly quilt link should definitely add this one to the list!

  6. That is a great quilting design for the quilt and the minky looks so soft and cuddly.

  7. You're right, that IS a super cute quilt. Love the butterfly design for the quilting.

  8. I wondered if you got distracted quilting in front of that window, hehe. Don't cha just love how much the quilting can show on that backing, so much fun!
