Vickie made this lovely quilt in memory of her son, for her daughter-in-law.
It measures 86" X 86" square. Here it is on the bars:
It's a string quilt block with sashing, representing logs and fire.
The backing is a lovely satin-backed brocade. That, plus the wool batting, makes the back as beautiful as the top!
You can see more of the brocade on this close-up. The quilting is Exotic Vine.
Full back (a bit windy here this morning!):
Beautiful quilt, Vickie! And such a wonderful gift for your daughter-in-law.
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love the scrappy yet organized look of string quilts. The colors are so fiery, and that feather quilting is just perfect to complement the nature feel of this quilt!
Lovely quilt and quilting as always. The two fabric sashing is really striking. What really caught my eyes when scrolling down my blog feed are the symbols/writing you used on your post title. And then to see Liz's comment above. I have to confess now that I've spent too many late nights during the past few weeks playing Mah Jong on the computer so my eyes are pretty sensitive to looking at these symbols and writing now I really should be using this time for sewing.
ReplyDeleteYou (and Vickie) did a GREAT job on this quilt!!

The backing shows off your beautiful quilting so nicely. I like her design using string blocks too.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful piece by one of your customers! I've never seen two tone sashing like that, and it's really effective. I love the brocade on the back and how the gorgeous quilting shows so well!
ReplyDeleteYou sure have some talented quilters bringing quilts your way! This one is so beautiful, and that brocade is lovely.
ReplyDeleteWow. I like the way the colors play in this one, and that back is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilting pattern you have used on the quilt. It does look special.
