πŸ”€ Interweave Baby Quilts 1 & 2 🚼

I love this quilt pattern, Interweave! I enjoyed whipping up two more baby quilts for Jack's Basket using Interweave:
I made this version first, using leftover scraps of yellow, grey and black:
Quilt Info:
Pattern: Interweave by Material Girl Quilts--free pattern and video here
Size: 38" X 38"
Batting: Quilters Dream 100% Cotton, Request
Thread: Glide--Light Grey
Quilting: Splat by Dastardly Line
Interesting Info: I ran across the video for this free pattern and thought I'd like to make it. Amanda of Material Girls calls this "the perfect last minute baby shower gift!" She makes it out of charms squares cut in half, but I made mine from leftover bits of 2 1/2" strips.

I resized the original dimensions and made mine with 18 rows of six, for a total of 108 "blocks". Here's a link to the PDF pattern
I quilted it with "Splat" by Dastardly Line. If you have a computerized longarm, make sure and check out her free and sale quilting designs--she's been changing them monthly. This was a free design in September. What a great design!!!
Making that quilt was so much fun that I jumped in right away with a second version! For this one, I started with this backing fabric--Naomi Collection from Yuzawaya in Tokyo:
Here's what I came up with from my scrap 2 1/2" drawer:

Pattern: Interweave by Material Girl Quilts--free pattern and video here
Size: 39" X 39"
Batting: Quilters Dream 100% Cotton, Request
Thread: Glide--Lemon Ice
Quilting: Chevrons 1 by Keryn Emmerson
Interesting Info: I made the outside border a little wider. Jack's Basket likes quilts that are 36" square. If they're too big and/or puffy, they can't fit the basket into the shipping box. I used the thinnest cotton batting, so these should be good. The staff said if any of the quilts they receive are too big to fit in the basket and box, they have other charities they redistribute them to.
We took a trip to the Jack's Basket office this week. I brought in these 10 quilts of my own. My sister, Quilter Bonnie, also had 2 quilts, plus I had 3 quilts made by Rose of SomethingRoseMade, and 7 quilts made by our church ladies. Here are mine:
But the star of our delivery trip was my niece, Gretchen!!! She is an amazing loom knitter and had 60 baby hats she knit for Jack's Basket!!!
Great job, Gretchen, Bonnie and Rose!!!

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  11. Your two quilts are lovely! And the first quilting really is so fun. Thanks for also linking the video and the pattern. I still have two unused charms squares waiting for "their" project, so I will pin this as an idea. xo Melanie

  16. Great work, Nancy and Gretchen. Thank you for that wee quilt pattern too. I'm not very imaginative when it comes to making such things, and it's just perfect not only for charm squares but for scraps I have breeding in my sewing studio.

  20. The good/bad thing about these DrEAMi parties is that I find ALL sorts of squirrels to chase. I've gone and bookmarked the video; thanks for that. I love your quilts, ten, great job, and so nice to see you took others' quilts as well, and whoa! Fantastic job on 60 hats by your niece! Thanks for linking up!

  21. That is a great pattern for a quick, and scrappy quilt! I'll have to file that away for future reference. :) I love sending quilts to Jack's Basket and especially love that you can drop yours off in person. I was glad to read that they might be able to use quilts that are a bit bigger than 36x36, too!
