I'm jumping on the Rainbow Scrap Challenge wagon this year!!! All the info is on Angela's blog over at superscrappy.blogspot.com.
Basically, you choose a quilt block and make a block or more of the color of the month, using scraps. At the end of the year, you should have a rainbow scrap quilt, or two!
I'm using the "Scrap Happy Rainbow Connection Quilt Pattern", by Amy Friend, found in Love Patchwork & Quilting magazine, issue 85. She sells it as a pdf pattern now, also. Here's Amy's quilt ⤵️!!!
Red is the color announced for January. I went through my scrap strips basket that holds strips less than 2 1/2" wide, and found all the red strips. I kept making blocks until I ran out of red strips, and came up with 9 blocks!!! ⤵️
These blocks measure 12" unfinished and contain Japanese and modern fabrics!!! I won't always be making 9 blocks--I have fewer strips of some colors. I'm excited to hear what February's color will be!!!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

ReplyDeleteLove your 12" blocks. That is a great start to a quilt. I think my blocks will be 10", but I am still deciding.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to use up the red! I do that block too, but use more crumbs. I found a multicolored variation in a leisure arts book from 1998! It's a real classic.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and sew on !
