I'm doing the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) again in 2023! It's a great way to work through your scraps, month by month, and turn them into quilts!
This year I'm sorting through my 2 1/2" squares and making 6 x 6 postage stamp blocks. I was inspired by woodberry_way on Instagram--here's her baby quilt:
Here's my collection of 2 1/2" squares at the beginning of the year. ⤵️ Note that there may be additions as the year progresses.
I had 2 dark blue stacks and 1 bright blue stack after sorting through my squares--the color with the most squares! I made 9 dark blue blocks and 3 bright blue blocks. Here are close-ups of 3 dark blue blocks. ⤵️
And one of the bright blue blocks. ⤵️My 2023 Rainbow Scrap Challenge block count:
January: Dark/Bright Blues 12 blocks

These are fabulous, Nancy! My blue scraps are by far the most plentiful, except maybe for grey because I use that a lot for backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for a baby quilt! I love your blue blocks. Of all of the colors, I have the least amount of blue in my stash. And I love blue!
ReplyDeleteThat’s a great block to use up 2 1/2 “ squares. I’m curious about your method. Do you sew strops of 6 square, or do you make 4 9-patches? I love looking at all your interesting fabric, close up!
ReplyDeleteI love this...using what you have and then you just sew!
ReplyDeleteWay to go digging into your scraps to make beautiful blocks. I should try that shouldn't I, LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat variety of scraps and pretty blue blocks, Nancy.
ReplyDeletebeautiful blocks for the baby quilt & great combinations of blues!
ReplyDeleteNicely done!! and maybe a great stash buster!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your 36 patch blocks, Nancy! So many fun prints - I enjoyed your close-ups!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great block for the RSC this year! I could probably make quite a few blue blocks - my bin is so full!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful Nancy! You have such pretty and interesting blues. This makes me want to drop everything and go organize my scraps!
ReplyDeleteLove those blocks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful square collection! I love your dark blue blocks, it's a great way to highlight all these pretty fabrics.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, and linking up!
What a great way to use up your scraps! These will be fun! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely blue blocks. I love making blocks from squares too, including 1.5” squares and they make great quilts. Enjoy working through your scraps.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice for this years RSC .

What a great collection of blue blocks. Your stacks of squares will be smaller before you know it. Looks like you will have enough for a big quilt at this rate.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blues! Love your blue blocks. Great way using up those 2.5" squares.
ReplyDeleteThese are terrific blue blocks! What great planning to sort your squares at the beginning of the process into color ways. You are so wise! It is going to see the piles "disappear" into blocks during the year!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes your block sparkle is the sprinkling of lights/darks/mediums -- unified yet varied. Pink for February.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing all the new RSC blocks and ideas popping up everywhere and I am almost at a place to jump in and join you all. Maybe next year I am fully ready ;)
