🌈RSC Green🟩

I'm back!!! My cast came off my left arm on January 26th, five weeks after the accident. Now I have a removable brace and have much more use of my thumb. I'm able to drive, work and quilt again!

I'm doing the Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) in 2024! It's a great way to work through your scraps and turn them into quilts! January's RSC color is dark and bright green! Angela @ SuperScrappy posts a color every month.
This year I'm making butterflies from my spare stash of 5" squares! I'm using the Hope Takes Flight free pattern from Robert Kaufmann. Let me know if you have any of these fabrics in your collections:
My 2024 Rainbow Scrap Challenge block count:

January:     Dark/Bright Greens        16 blocks
See the colors for each month and the Saturday link parties at Angela's blog: SoScrappy!!!

  2. Oh hooray, that's good news that you can get back to regular activities again, Nancy! I like your butterfly blocks - they'll make a fun quilt. I don't recognize any of those greens from my stash, but they are pretty!

  3. OMG I am so glad you are finally healed and back to quilting. What did you do with yourself while you weren't able to sew?

  4. It is wonderful to see you back in action. I hope your wrist has healed well.
Your green blocks are lovely. It is always interesting to see them come together at the end of each year. (Karen , Sunburnt Quilts.)

  6. I'm so glad you're healing well, and back to doing what you love. Cute butterflies, thanks for the pattern link. I recognize two of the older greens, not sure if I still have yardage, but probably scraps!

  7. Hooray for healing well and getting back to what you enjoy doing! I recognized two brighter greens. . .the grunge for sure. Isn't it interesting to have picked some of the same fabrics even though we live far from one another? I do like that butterfly pattern.--TerryK@OnGoingProjects

  10. Oh so happy to hear the cast is off. It must be wonderful to be able to scratch your arm. Now to get your arm strength back. So, do you actually use scraps for your RSC blocks? In the past I've picked blocks that need a fairly large (5 - 6" squares) to make the design. This year it's 6" bowties so a lot smaller pieces can be used. So now I'm picking from my previous cut fat quarters. Hopefully I'll make a dent in some of them. Nope, didn't see any greens that I have. Surprising really. Take care.

    1. Yes, I do use scraps. When I'm cutting out a quilt and have just a bit leftover, I'll cut the leftover fabric into 10" squares, 5" strips, 5" squares, 2 1/2" strips and/or 2 1/2" squares. I'm using 5" squares from my stack for these butterflies.

  15. Hi Nancy!! Wow, that seems like it was just a blink ago that you were injured. I know it doesn't feel that way to you, though. Five weeks of a cast are long enough for you to realize that while you have more freedom of movement, you're not going to overdo. Right?!! I'm working on a butterfly project myself as they make me think of Spring. Love your choice of block and prints! {{Hugs}} Welcome back! ~smile~ Roseanne

  17. So glad that your cast is off. The brace isn't nearly as difficult to wear, as it can be removed for washing the arm (been there). Your green fabrics and blocks are looking fabulous.

  18. I don't have many green prints in my stash, so only Grunge looks familiar to me. But such a lovely project, and a great way to use smaller scraps. I'm thrilled for you to be cast-less now. No doubt it's taken a little bit to restore strength to your wrist and digits, but how wonderful to have that be behind you. Take care of yourself! And enjoy.
