African🌍Quilt

This quilt is a labor of love, made by Lynn, for her friend who served in Zimbabwe🇿🇼!
Quilt Info:
Maker: Lynn
Size: 58" x 80"
Pattern: Winter Hot Dish
Batting: Quilters Dream 80/20
Thread: Glide--Marlin
Pantograph: African Storm ⤵️ from Intelligent Quilting
African Storm seemed like a perfect choice for this quilt of African fabrics!!!
Lynn's friend had clothing made for herself while living in Zimbabwe and asked Lynn if she would make a quilt from these garments. Lynn washed them, took them apart and cut them into squares.
She backed each one with fusible interfacing as they are very thin, fine fabrics. I'm not sure what the fiber contents are: rayon? silk? some linen-like fiber? There's more than one fiber type.
Lynn framed the blocks with Grunge.
She found the perfect color 108" wide backing!⤵️
Beautiful, beautiful, Lynn!!! Wonderful memory quilt for your dear friend!!!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  8. That must have been a little tricky, but she did really well! I like the darker blue to frame the prints, too, and you always seem to come up with the perfect quilting design!

  10. This is so wonderful! And African Storm is the perfect panto for it. I am going to do something similar for a friend of mine; making her a memory quilt out of her daughter's garments. It's actually the next project I'm going to work on.

  12. What a lovely result. It is not easy to work with a mix of fabric types so this has worked out really well.
