Catching Up With December

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Here are some projects I've been working on this month--photo-heavy post!

Here's a cute Valentine mini I quilted for my friend, Val! She made up the design herself, using 2 1/2" squares:

I did some stitch-in-the-ditch and a staggered triple arch design using freemotion quilting:

I quilted this fun charm square quilt for my sister, Quilter Bonnie! The quilting includes holly leaves and swirls:

Here's another quilt I quilted for Quilter Bonnie, made for her daughter, my lucky niece:

The quilting is Retro Revolution, an orange peel design:

A Simple Gifts quilt that Quilter Bonnie made for Jack's Basket:

I quilted it with Modernish #4:

Another Simple Gifts quilt made by Quilter Bonnie for Jack's Basket:

I quilted it with Stacked Snailz:

DD2, Susanna, is getting ready to launch on her 11 month mission trip with the World Race. Follow her blog here! I made several more packing cubes for some of her team mates, using ripstop:
Here's a new handbag I made for her. The pattern is Sonoma Swing Bag by Pink Sand Beach Designs. Photo taken at Operation Christmas Child packing center:

The fabric is cats and dogs standing in a Japanese train!!! Reminiscent of our time spent standing in trains of Japan:

She requested a cosmetic bag for her travels and found this free box bag pattern she liked. Here's a sample bag I made to test out the pattern:

The pattern and size got a thumbs up, so I made this version for her using laminated vinyl and ripstop lining:

Quilter Bonnie and I had a sewing day together in December and we made Fold 'N Stitch Wreaths. My version is made from Japanese fabrics:

I added 36 vintage beads for a bit of added sparkle:

Here's Quilter Bonnie's cute wreath:

And my last project to share--when I got to the bottom of my stack of baby quilt tops for Jack's Basket, I was surprised to find a forgotten table runner I made last year that needed quilting! I quilted and bound it, and will donate it to our quilt guild silent auction at our quilt show in February, Dakota County Star Quilters.

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  11. WOW! You have been busy. I love all your projects and am particularly impressed with all those packing cubes you made. Is it hard to sew on ripstop? I think the cosmetic bag should last with the laminate/ripstop! The wreath also calls my name and those Japanese prints are fab! You have had a great month of projects.
