Charity Quilts 48, 49, 50, 51, 52 & 53 💝

I've been making 52 quilts in 2018 for Jack's Basket, where babies with Down syndrome are celebrated. 🎉 Here's a sweet baby sleeping on one of my quilts, surrounded by all of his Jack's Basket goodies!

This is the last month of my 52 baby quilts challenge! I ended up with 53 quilts, as that's how many coordinated bundles DD2 and I had arranged--just can't stop the fun!!!

Here are all 53 quilts:

Now for the details on quilts 48 through 53, in which I quilted 2 of them singly and the last 4 at once. The pattern I'm using is "Simple Gifts", from the mini book Fat Quarter Love, and uses 4 fat quarters.

Number 48, quilted with Slip Stitch:

The backing is 2 half yard cuts:

Number 49, quilted with Soap Bubbles:

This backing is also 2 half yard cuts:

Here are numbers 50 through 53 being quilted:

I used 3 1/2 yards of this pink fabric for the backing on these last 4 quilts:

Jack's Basket is always in need of more baby quilts. They have sent out/delivered more than 1,000 baskets, and 500+ baskets this year alone, to parents of newborn Down syndrome babies in all 50 USA states and 13 countries. The suggested size is 36" X 36". Their donation info is here.

Thanks for traveling through this Jack's Basket journey with me in 2018!!! A big thanks and hugs to my sister, my cousin and my small group, who all joined me in by making many baby quilts themselves for Jack's Basket!

Thanks to Laura at Slice of Pi Quilts who inspired me to make 52 charity quilts this year! Check out her charity link-up on the last day of each month in 2018.

  2. What wonderful quilts you've made for this worthy organization. I think it's neat you were able to quilt four at a time. I'm sure all of them will be much loved and appreciated by the recipients.

  3. Thanks for making such a generous contribution of baby quilts to an organization that supports something near and dear to my heart, babies with Down syndrome. People with Down syndrome have so much to offer and they need to be celebrated.

  8. You are quite the generous and busy bee. I am so impressed and I also love Jack's basket. Although, I've only made one quilt for them, I plan to make more. Without a long arm, I couldn't make nearly as many as you. In addition, your quilts are so simple yet striking. You are an angel to help in such a big way. If only the world had more givers like you!!!

  9. Congratulations Nancy on completing your goal. You are an overachiever. They are each beautiful. You and Laura have both inspired me. Once I am moved in and have a machine back up and running I'll be doing some quilts for Jack's Basket.

  22. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me to do something similar in my area. I am the Project Linus Chapter Coordinator in Northern Virginia, outside of Washington DC. I receive 200 blankets, afghans and quilts of varying sizes a month from volunteers and so have plenty to share. After reading your blog and seeing the quilts, I also want to help babies with Down Syndrome in my area. Searching the Internet, I was able to find the Down Syndrome Association of Northern Virginia (DSANV). I talked to the Director of Parent Support this morning and we will meet next month when I bring quilts and fleece blankets, which the parents prefer. DSANV prepares Welcome Baskets for new parents and definitely wants to involve my Project Linus chapter. An added bonus is their office is only 6 miles from my house. So thank you, Nancy, for inspiring me to have a positive impact in my own community!
