A Sparkly ✨ Sherpa Christmas 🎄

I love this large panel I found at My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe while we were driving through Utah this summer!

Just quilt and bind! I quilted it with freehand swirls:

For backing, I used some Sherpa fabric covered in gold sparkles that I bought on black Friday at Joanns.
For binding, I simply turned the extra Sherpa around the edges and stitched.
If you look closely, you can see the gold sparkles that cover the Sherpa backing. Surprisingly, and a good thing, too, not one of the sparkles came off during the quilting process!
Quilt Info:
Size: 58" X 75"
Quilting: Freemotion Quilting--Swirls
Batting: Quilter's Dream Batting--Orient
Thread: 100 Weight Invisifil--Light Grey
Interesting Facts:
~Having seen this panel on Instagram, I was interested when I saw a sample at My Girlfriend's Quilt Shoppe. Then the staff told me it was on sale as part of their Christmas in June sale, and I was all in!
~Quilter's Dream Orient batting is bamboo, silk, tencel and cotton. It is super lightweight and super luxurious!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  3. That looks so cuddly and scrumptious - I bet it will feel fabulous when cold weather comes. Hubby wants me to make him a quilt with a soft & cuddly backing. I've got to get started on that! I love that you already have a new Christmas quilt finished. :)

  8. Hi Nancy! I saw another friend with this panel, and fell in love. Plus I'm singing and humming a nice little tune now - can you guess what it might be?!! Then you throw Sherpa in the mix with sparkles!! We have a boat load of Sherpa in the closet. Seriously, we were going to make mittens lined with Sherpa (hundreds of them, it seems based on how much fabric we bought) and that was back in 1999 or so. I never, EVER thought of using it on the back of a quilt. Holy moly - total game changer. Thank you! And I really want this panel, too. What a nice sized finished piece, and the swirly quilting really highlights it without taking away from the sentiment. ~smile~ Roseanne

  9. I didn't realize how big the panel was until seeing it across your couch. Very pretty and how unusual to use sherpa on the back, makes it special;)

  10. Ohhh ... I've never used the Quilter's Dream Orient product (I usually go for the Request). How do you choose which kind of batting you'll use for a particular project?

  11. What a beautiful quick project... that panel is deceptively large, the first shots give no impression that this is a good size quilt! Love the sparkly back, amazing that it stuck so well. Thanks for sharing!
