✂️ Paper Cuts Quilt ✂️

I love everything about my latest quilt finish!!! The pattern, the colors, the fabrics, the backing, the scrappy binding!

Quilt Info:

Pattern: Paper Cuts Quilt by Then Came June
Fabrics: Miscellaneous stash, modern and Japanese fabrics
Backing: Tovsippa duvet cover from IKEA, featuring Gingko leaves--it was on clearance!
Size: 56" X 74"
Quilting: Asian Gingko
Batting: Quilters Dream Batting--100% Cotton, Request
Thread: Glide--Mint
Fun Fact: Ginkgo trees are very popular in Japan. The leaf resembles a fan. A fun activities for our children in Japanese kindergarten was to gather up a bouquet of yellow ginkgo leaves! The nuts are used in a delicious salty dish called Chawanmushi.

Here's a close-up of the Gingko leaf quilting:

The backing fabric that inspired the color palette:

And because this quilt is pretty much all about the fabrics, here are some close-ups:

This is a fast, fun quilt to make! And a great way to feature some of your favorite prints!!! I'll be making more of this design!

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  1. This quilt is so cute! You did such a good job coordinating the fabric colors together. I like the Asian Ginko quilting with your ties to Japan. It's always fun when you can find something from IKEA for a quilt back. This one goes perfect!

  8. What a pretty quilt, Nancy! Great pattern for showing off those beautiful fabrics to perfection. And thank you for mentioning that you quilted with MINT thread. I would never have thought of Mint but it looks fantastic, very subtle. I got a cone of Glide thread in Mint in my kit from a workshop with Judi Madsen and I thought I'd never ever use that color... but now I'm reconsidering!
