🌈RSC Red🟥

July's Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) is red! I'm doing 6 x 6 postage stamp blocks this year, using 2 1/2" squares, mostly from leftovers bits as I'm cutting out quilts!!!
Here are my individual blocks. Check them out--I always enjoy hearing if we have any of the same prints!!!
Although, I will warn you, 65% of these prints came from fabrics purchased in Japan! Red is an important color in Japanese culture.

My 2023 RSC Block Count:

January:    Dark/Bright Blues    12 blocks
February:  Pink                           8 blocks
March:      Green                        4 blocks
April:         Purple                       4 blocks
May:         Orange                      4 blocks
June:        Light Blue                  4 blocks
June:        Light Green               2 blocks
July:         Red                            5 blocks

See the colors for each month, and the Saturday link parties at Angela's blog: So Scrappy!!!

For those of you who commented and prayed for my Mom's move--thank you! We are moving her to a place this weekend that is between my sister's and my home--just 4 minutes away for each of us!!!

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  5. I don't have many of those reds in my stash....a few similar including the berries...but not many. The news about your Mom is great. Praying it all goes well as she moves to a new place.

  9. Wow! Your collection of red fabric is amazing. I got a chuckle out of seeing how varied it was. There were strawberries, paper cranes and a very US patriotic bit of a flag in the mix.

  10. I don't have a lot of red fabrics, but I love the mix in your blocks where the overall effect still reads as red.

  12. I didn't spot any reds that match my stash... does that mean I need to go shopping? Beautiful blocks and fabrics. So happy to hear you found a place close to both of you. Wishing you a successful move this weekend.

  13. Not any Japanese fabrics in my stash, but I do love the origami swans! I only found one that is like mine. The red with yellow sunflowers and plaid squares!
Glad you could find the perfect place for your mom!

  14. Hi Nancy, nope - we don't have the same fabric supplier :-) I love your scraps. Thanks for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks and all the best with your Mom. It's great that you are both so close!

  16. So pretty, Nancy! Honestly though, as I looked through the prints - not one of them looks familiar - all I could think of is "use a Color Grabber when you wash this!" :-) Can you guess that I experienced an issue with bleeding red in a quilt? I don't often use red in my quilts, so I don't have much in the way of a red stash. But I like seeing what you've made. Funnily, seeing your first picture, I thought you had a genius way of making a star-shaped block using squares! You're so talented.

  17. Lovely blocks, and red fabrics! I may have one in common, the solid red ;)) Fun prints, I love the nails and screws ;)
It's very good news for your Mom, being close to you both will be so much easier to take care of her.
Thank you for sharing, and linking up!

  18. For some reason I haven't made my red blocks this month. I did make enough crumb blocks to at least cut out one block but that is as far as it got. I'll catch up soon. I recognized two of the fabrics but I'm pretty sure mine were in a different colorway. I'm not sure why but I do enjoy looking at others' fabric to see if I have some. I've missed a lot of your posts recently -- must go back and see what you have been up to.

  19. Lovely blocks with such an awesome variety of shades of red. I only saw one fabric that looked familiar. But I definitely saw some that made me wish I had lots of it. :-)
