Class Pack Volume 3 was released by Gudrun of GE Designs in June, while we were traveling. I finished the second quilt, Frequency, in August, and you can see it here.
Here's the first quilt from the class, Prisms, which I had a late start on with that aforementioned road trip, finally finished!!!
Quilt Info:
Pattern: Prisms from GE Designs
Fabrics: Blueberry Delight by Bunny Hill for Moda
Size: 70" x 86"
Batting: Quilters Dream Wool
Thread: Glide--Graphite
I used wool batting, which is warmth without the weight, and washable. It adds great quilting definition, too!!!
I started this quilt with a layer cake of Blueberry Delight by Bunny Hill Designs. Adorable blue and white prints, bought at a deep discount--I just couldn't resist! The first thing I had to do was go through all the squares and square them up, as layer cake squares have those dreaded mini pinked edges and are not at all 10" square!
I needed 63 squares for the twin size, so I added some blenders from my collection.Getting those 4 off-center points to line up in each block ⤵️ was the real challenge for making this quilt!!! I had to disregard the idea of a scant 1/4" seam allowance, and just sew where the points lined up, whether that was 1/8", 3/8" or anywhere inbetween or outside!!!
Grunge sashing and some extra yardage for border and binding were all purchased at a deep discount. The local quilt shop where I've worked part-time for nine years is going out of business/retiring. We're currently at 35% off for customers, with employees getting a higher discount.
I was able to get enough to make a flannel backing, which was good fortune! Flannel yardage for backing was one of the first things customers were buying out at a discount, as well as Minkee.

The class pack includes 2 quilt patterns, 6 video classes, 2 zoom sessions, and a private Facebook page where everyone shares their quilts!
I love the finished quilt!!! I'm giving it to my Mom, who instilled the love of everything blue and white in me!💙🤍💙Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

That is such a beautiful quilt, and how sweet you are giving it to your Mom! Does she live nearby? Is this a surprise for her? I love the blues, and your quilting is stunning - I just bookmarked Shabby's panto pages. Thanks for the tip about squaring up the pinked edges. I always have issues with precuts and never considered cutting off those edges. My local quilting store is also going out of biz. Their sale day started yesterday, and the one thing I wanted was flannel - already Out of Stock!
ReplyDeleteLove this quilt and the wool batting, it does give a great definition to the quilting. So sorry about the shop closing, but deals are to be had. That flannel backing is perfect.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt Nancy! You know how much I love blue and white, and I am inspired by all your perfect points!! Your mom will be so cozy this winter under her new quilt!!💙

Prisms is beautiful! Of course it's beautiful, it's made with blues! Happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really pretty design! I love all the blues and the way the blocks are offset from each other. Your mom is going to love this quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt and love that it is going to your Mom. Whisp is a very pretty panto, too!
ReplyDeleteThat is really pretty. The blue and white is such a lovely combination. It’ll be a wonderful gift.
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful - though I know it was not so simple to make! I am so impressed by all of your creations, but this one is especially lovely. What a great gift for your mom!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Who doesn't love blue.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Who doesn't love a blue quilt? Your mom will certainly love it!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, Nancy! You make so many beautiful quilts, and I love knowing this one will go to your mom. I'm sure she'll cherish it. As for those center points matching-up... I know exactly what you're talking about! When piecing a precision-cut quilt, I often have to "fudge" to get seams to align properly. I just figure that what's hidden on the inside will "never talk," so it's okay to keep that secret. Accuracy and precision can be overrated anyway, unless you're hand-piecing. I think you did a fantastic job.
ReplyDeleteNancy, the mark of a seasoned quilter is knowing when to ignore the rules and follow your instinct to make things work the way you want. Your point matching system is perfection. No doubt your mother will be delighted with her gift.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is a beauty! I love everything, from the pretty fabrics, to the perfect matched points (wow, perfect!), to the lovely quilted swirls. The wool batting is going to keep your mom nice and warm. Thank you for sharing this beautiful quilt, and linking up!
ReplyDeleteThis is a delightful finish. The blue and white fabrics are so pretty and suit the design perfectly. Love the pantograph, too.
