The Rainbow Scrap Challenge color for March is Red. My main RSC goal this year is to whittle down my stack of 5" charm squares by turning them into baby quilts, 9 squares across by 11 squares down, therefore "99 Charms" quilts. Here are the two I made for March.
Pattern: 99 Charms
Size: 41" x 50"
Batting: Quilters Dream Cotton
Thread: Glide--Linen
A fun modern panto, "Tear Drop" ⤴️⤵️
I started using flannel on the backs of baby quilts this year, for the softness factor. ⤵️When I need more squares to complete a quilt, I pull from the black, grey, brown and white charm square stacks.
My Quilt Info #2:
Pattern: 99 Charms
Size: 41" x 50"
Batting: Quilters Dream
Thread: Glide--Pink
Both of these have been delivered to Bundles of Love for their newborn baby bundles.
Here is my 99 Charms quilt count for 2026, so far:
January--💙💙💙
February--💚💚
March--❤️❤️
I've also been making Honey Bouquet baby quilts this year, of which my count is at 12.

A wonderful way to use your red charms and create lovely baby quilts to donate! Well done! Gail at the cozy quilter
ReplyDeleteWonderful red quilts! They are especially striking with the red binding. I hope to get started on my reds soon.
ReplyDeleteYou have such pretty charms, and the fussy cut blocks are perfect. Is that a baby seal in the top one? Beautiful job.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Your 99 Charms quilts are lovely. Fun prints in both of them, I love the clothesline with quilts, the origami cranes, the tiny little house, among others! Macaron panto is fun, and Tear Drop is very elegant. Thank you for sharing your cute baby quilts and linking up.
ReplyDeleteThe alternating red & LV squares are great & that baby seal! What a great panto, that Macaron. Super cute. Great progress made on using up those charms!
ReplyDeleteNancy, these are adorable! Very clever way to use up those charms.
ReplyDeleteThose are so sweet, Nancy! So much to look at in them. There's the Eiffel Tower again, and I love the strawberries! Did you cut these yourself or just accumulate them from charm packs over the years? I have leftover charm squares, too, but they're the ugly ones, lol!
ReplyDeleteThey're entirely cut from my stash, when there's just a bit left.
DeleteAs always, fabulous fabrics. Eiffel Towers, baby seals, tiny bears, clothes on the line, origami swans, so cool. Perfect donation quilts for Bundles of Love.
ReplyDeleteIt will be very interesting to see how many charms you use throughout the year!
ReplyDeleteMore great 99 Patch quilts and neat quilting!!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilts, and what a wonderful idea! And I absolutely love the quilting, especially the macarons! Makes me want to run right out to the bakery lol.
ReplyDeleteAs always, I looked and none of your fabrics were familiar to me. Isn't that crazy??? I loved the macaron quilting motif!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to use charm squares, and red... neither of which I have in my stash. Ha, ha. That's a very good reason for me not to participate in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I find it challenging enough to try to use what I already have in my stash. :-) Love that you've made these to give away. The flannel backing is perfect for a baby. Cute pantos too. I especially like the teardrop one which has a mid century modern vibe to it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great use of charm squares. Simple is so effective and it must be fun to use different longarm quilt designs on your RSC quilts.
ReplyDeleteThese quilts look great in red. I like your idea of adding the neutrals if you need the extra blocks. The contrast works well.
ReplyDeleteThe quilting designs are fun, too.
Gorgeous donations.
Very cute baby quilts! The quilting on both turned out beautifully. What a great way to use up those charm squares.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea - Checkerboard baby quilts! I love the interesting low volume prints you used.
ReplyDeleteAnother pretty set of quilts for Bundles of Love! Simple checkerboard quilts make perfect baby quilts!
ReplyDeleteI admire people doing such wonderful work. I haven't tried this yet and will leave it to those who are masters of the art. Love your work.

Wonderful donation quilts!
ReplyDeleteSuch simple quilts, but perfect for babies and toddlers to play I spy. ;) Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteI love red! It made these quilts so pretty. Perfect size for charity! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Adorable baby quilts and looks so easy and fun to do. I may plan this "99" baby quilt down the road to use up my stash. I have been cutting leftovers into 5" charms (or 2 1/2" charms when too small.) Love the macaron design!
ReplyDeleteVery cheerful red " I Spy" quilts. Fabulous use of 5" squares.
ReplyDeleteThese baby quilts are just the cutest! Charms are a great way to use up your fabric stash too! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThe flannel shows the quilting so well! Hope you have a lot of charm squares because at 99 per quilt, they’ll go fast, but the variety of colors and patterns make the so interesting!
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired, I have a little charm pack and was wondering what to do with it. A baby quilt, love it, so quick and easy.
ReplyDeleteThese are great! what a fun way to use up the charms - and the quilting on them is so great!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, those are so cute - and so are the pantos!
ReplyDeleteAwesome RSC quilts - as usual! And - a bit off topic - but I just realized, my scrap situation might be way better than I think. While it is chaotic... and I have not found a way to store and use them well ... my scrap bins might actually contain enough scraps for ONE baby charm square quilt over the full rainbow of color ;) xo
ReplyDeleteSimple and delightful, Nancy! Love the macaron design, too! :)
