I have four inspiring client quilts to share today!

Lynn made this for her friend, who was quite involved in the making of this quilt. Her friend picked out this quilt pattern from the 17 patterns in the Stripology Quickies book. Next she picked out the color palate from Lynn's collection. After Lynn made the blocks, her friend came over and arranged them all on the design wall, and Lynn did the final piecing.
Her friend wanted swirly quilting. The green in this quilt and on the Minky backing reminded me of ferns, so I used the "New Zealand Koru" quilting. Koru is the Maori word meaning coil, and is symbolized as an unfurling fern frond. (The minky looks turquoise here ⤴️ but it is more sage.)
A very cuddly, cute quilt!

ReplyDeletePretty quilts! How nice that Lynn's friend had a part in the making of her quilt. I love Lori's idea of 2 quilts for the grands. Susan's green quilt blows me away! It's so striking, that gold lame is genius. And cow poke is just sweet. All beautifully quilted too!

ReplyDeleteThe quilting designs you chose for each quilt are perfect! I appreciate the tip about lame'. I have not been asked to quilt on that fiber; you have given me confidence.
ReplyDeleteWell, I have quilted through many things, but I have to say gold lame’ is not one of them. I wonder if it is washable? The quilting design looks great on the polar fleece. That fleece gave me a good idea. I have a baby quilt I need to quilt, and I will go to Walmart and get one of the $8 fleece blankets for the back!

ReplyDeleteWhat a special friendship was shared in the making of the quilt with the sage backing! Once again the texture you provided with the quilting was the perfect match! I'd have been feeling the same about quilting on the gold lamé too! I'm glad it worked well!

ReplyDeleteFour really different really wonderful quilts. The quilting sets them off perfectly. I like the idea of a big bed quilt matching a baby quilt. It’s a great idea!

ReplyDeleteI knew I recognized two 3 Yard Quilt designs! I think the Toy Story Tribute is "Sew Quick". Had to laugh because I just got in a FQ bundle of St. Patrick's Day themed fabric with plans to make a 3YQ design with them. Also just finished a 3YQ top that would look good quilted with that "Baby Blue Eyes Design". I don't think I've seen GE Designs "Dina" before, I like that one too! Your Minky backs always looks so luscious and comfy --- I need try using that kind of back again. Always so inspiring to visit you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun collection of quilts. I was particularly intrigued by how Lynn and her friend collaborated on the first quilt and then brought you into the mix. How fortunate you were able to work with the lame. I expect longarm machines must use size 80:12 needles or larger, which could snag the fabric or leave a bigger hole remaining than with smaller, fine point needles.

ReplyDeleteYOU are the inspiring one, Nancy! These quilts are beautifully quilted. I'm especially fond of the first one because of the lovely Minky backing with the Koru design. And polar fleece?! That's a new-to-me type of backing. I see this one has batting too, but could the quilt be quilted with only the top and fleece? That might work here in Florida. I'm happy to see customers are keeping you busy. That's why you're SO GOOD at quilting.

Lyn's quilt made in conjunction with her friend is lovely and I really like the way the minky shows the quilting so well.
Lori's baby quilt is adorable, but I am impressed with her idea of making two similar quilts in different sizes. That is so smart.
The minky looks wonderful on Susan's quilt as well. The green is stunning and the quilting gorgeous.
Susan's second quilt is full of fun. Great cowboy theme especially in the quilting.
