Quilty Gift

My quilting cousin, Sue, celebrated a birthday recently. I made her one of these handy iron totes as a gift.

Here's what it looks like opened up.

The layers, inside out: ironing board cover silver, 1 layer of Insul-Bright, 2 layers of 100% cotton batting, plus outside decorative fabric.

I made one for myself previously--here are the two together, with irons loaded. The pattern is online free, here. If you don't have one yet, I highly recommend making one.

The one change I made on the pattern was to draw the topstitch sewing lines on with a FriXion pen, instead of sewing through paper.

Notice fabric covered button made of Japanese crepe fabric, a gift from my Tokyo quilt friend, Yokii! Happy birthday, Sue!!!

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  2. I was given one of these by my sister-in-law. It's great for trekking back and forth to a class. Ironing while you're there, then packing up that warm iron to head home. I like the colors you used!

  3. Beautiful! As soon as I saw it, I thought it was reminiscent of another one you made ... even using the Avant Garde fabric line, which of course, I love! And ... it is the same pattern! What a lovely gift.

  5. Several friends have made this one. I have a different design for my iron caddy. It's more like a triangle, with a zipper and it doesn't open up. I have been wanting to make one like yours for my bigger iron.....thanks for the "shove" to get busy and get that done!
