Vacay Quilt Shop Stops

We recently took a 4,800 mile road trip to California and back! We stopped at 7 quilt shops along the way.

1.  Betty's Quiltery in Rapid City, South Dakota--They were having a construction season sale--everything 25% off!

2.  Quilt Connection, Etc. in Rapid City, South Dakota, where they had a couple of Sandi Irish's quilt patterns on display. Sandi is a co-worker at Quilt Cove.

3.  Lickety Stitch Quilts in Lusk, Wyoming--they recently doubled their space by adding on the space next door! Definitely worth the stop.

4.  The Quilt Parlor in Battle Mountain, Nevada--a fresh, new, modern shop, just opened in Fall, 2016. She has a fabulous flare for decorating a quilt shop! Absolutely worth the stop!

5.  Mad Hatter Quilt Shop in Winnemucca, Nevada--no photo. They have a very small inventory. It seems they are more of an embroidery business and the quilt shop was tagged on.

6.  Quilting Is My Therapy in Liberty, Missouri--Angela Walters, owner, was in Canada at the time, so we didn't get to meet her. But her style is all over this fun, modern quilt shop, as you can see from these photos:

7.  Missouri Star Quilt Company in Hamilton, Missouri--if you've been there, you know this is the ultimate quilt shopping experience!!! Make sure and check out the daily deal.

Check out DD2's video with her reaction to visiting Missouri Star Quilt Company for the first time. She's pretty enthusiastic!

Since DH is a driving machine, DD2 and I are the stitching machines on road trips. I crocheted tops on 30 kitchen towels.

A finished example:

DD2 made 14 Mother Bear teddy bears to send to orphans in Africa.

What do you do on road trips??

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  1. Thanks for the super fun quilt shop tour! Great job completing all the kitchen towels and Mother Bears! On road trips we usually listen to Adventures in Odyssey and enjoy the new scenery.

  3. Fun! I do the same, visit shops of interest. Quilt shops, used bookstores and fun thrift stores are my favorites.

  6. Ooooh, what fun!! I love your pictures ... especially of Quilting Is My Therapy & Missouri Start Quilt Co. That staircase is too funny! When I go on road trips ... which isn't often, nowadays ... of course I have to visit quilt shops!

  7. Thanks for the fun quilt shop tour. So many quilt shops...so little time. I love those cute towel finishes. My husband's grandmother used to make us some for Christmas every year. I miss her and the lovely towels. --Andrea

  10. What an amazing trip, thank you for sharing it with us. I love what you sewed and knitted while doing so, I can't as I would get car sick. I live in New Zealand and we do have quilt shops too although I do order from the Missouri Star also because of the wide range.

  11. Well wow what a road trip - that looks incredible! I knit while John drives whenever we go on a trip so I'm usually churning out a few socks or one of the children's birthday jumper on a long summer journey!

  12. What a fun trip! You hit two shops in my former hometown of Rapid City, SD and one in my now home state of Wyoming. MSQC is on my list of places to visit!
