Here's a recent finish for me--my Ric Rac quilt!!! This design is made using the QCR Mini ruler by Sew Kind of Wonderful, and a free pattern on their website, here.
The fabrics were a bundle of Sweet Tweets Island Batik fabrics that I won on Kathleen's blog, here. You can also see the clever quilt Kathleen made from her bundle of identical fabrics. Here's what they looked like out of the package:
I grouped my fabrics into 5 color families and worked on them one row at a time, using my design wall:
In an effort to use up every bit of fabric, my version is one section wider and one row longer than the original pattern. It finishes at 63" X 70".
I quilted it with a spiral pattern called "Pincurls":
Here's a view of the quilting from the back:
The background is Grunge White Paper, of which I bought an entire bolt last year as part of my anniversary purchase at Quilt Cove. More about that halfway down here.
I was able to make the binding from the leftover strips of fabric:
A big thank you and hugs to Kathleen, for the beautiful fabric! And thank you to Sew Kind of Wonderful for the fun, free pattern!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

Such a beautiful quilt! Great colors, I just love the look of curved piecing, and this is a great variation on the Drunkard's Path. Lovely quilting too, you know I can never get enough of swirls.
ReplyDeleteThis pattern is a perfect fit for these fabrics! Your quilt turned out great. Love the name pincurls for the quilting name. Brings back childhood memories!

How marvelous! Who will receive this beauty?
ReplyDeleteWell of course I love this one-I mean it's IB fabrics!!! Great job on all of it Nancy, so glad you won that fabric-isn't it just an awesome feel to the fabric? I forgot to check does QC carry IB?
ReplyDeleteAnother fantastic quilt, Nancy! OK, this one pushed me over the edge. I've been thinking about getting that ruler and now I'm gonna do it! Thanks for the inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! So cool that you made it with fabric from Kathleen too (and IB fabric at that)! What a nice incentive from QC too. Great idea on the purchase of the bolt; you'll be able to use that often!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on this quilt. It's such a fun pattern and a great use for these bright batiks.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute quilt, Nancy!!
