Here's the video instructions in 54 seconds:
I quilted this quilt with Random Clams:
The layer cake I used is "Drawn" by Angela Walters. The prints look like drawn versions of Angela's amazing freehand quilting.
My label:
The backing is a 100% cotton print from IKEA. I bought it a year or so ago, and it came prepackaged in a 60" X 3 yard cut.
This is a super fun quilt to make. I had some help, too, from DD2, who made many of the blocks while caregiving for her grandparents. This quilt is headed to a camp for foster teens this summer.
We made an early spring visit to the Japanese Garden at Normandale Community College in Bloomington:
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

What a fun quilt! I didn't know about that line of fabric, and now I am thinking I need it - yikes! I love the quilting you did and think it is perfect. I think it might work for one of mine, except it is already sandwiched, so can I find a way to do it? I need to look for some of that Ikea fabric. You and Rose have used it and I love that it is wider than the average cotton!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! Simple but so delightful. I love your photo of it in the Japanese garden.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know about the Japanese Garden at Normandale; I'll have to check that out some day. Fun quilt, and I love the backing. It's going to make someone very happy. Nice finish, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteYour exquisite quilting elevates a simple pattern. I love love love the fabrics you chose!!! And the reflection in the lake...is just fabulous. I need to go find one for my next photo shoot.
ReplyDeleteFantastic, from start to finish! That's a great pattern to showcase a fabric collection. Also, how come I can never find those spectacular Ikea fabrics at my local store? Guess it's time for another visit...like anyone needs an excuse. Thanks for linking up to What I Made Monday.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to understand the "modern" fascination with pluses and Xes, but I like the scale of yours and the reflection in the lake is lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great quilt Nancy, and perfect for a teen camp! I love those fabrics, and the quilting design is perfection. Great job! Thanks for sharing your quilt on Main Crush Monday. I think I'm going to have to find some of Angela's fabric now..... :)
ReplyDeleteThat is one I haven't seen before and really like, thanks for sharing it! Curious what did you do with the cut off corners?
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy! What a fabulous quilt! I love both versions and the happy colors. What a cool photo, too, with the reflection in the lake/water. Too bad your DD2 wasn't smiling in the photo as well - that would have made it all the cuter. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the short video tutorial. I like plus quilts too and this is a great one.

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt all around! Great pattern, beautiful fabrics, and I love the random clams quilting. And that setting for photos is amazing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful contrast of calm and bold colors! The quilting really seems to suit the quilt. I still struggle with knowing when to quilt that fan design.
