Their were 16 entries, which made it fun:
You may have already guessed that mine was number 3, as this is my second wreath/candle ring I've made since December using the Fold 'N Stitch Wreath pattern.
The Kaffe Fasset fabric I used is "Paperweight". I paired it with a Japanese homespun. This is how it looks after step 1:

And here is the finished project, used as a candle wreath on our dining room table. You might not notice it, but there are 36 beads sewn on this candle wreath:

Here's the one I made back in December, also containing beads:

Our quilt show ran for 5 weeks. We just took it down last Saturday. The viewer's choice winner will be announced at our April meeting. In my book, everyone who entered is a winner! The more that enter a challenge, the more interesting the display.

What a fun challenge with such creative and varied interpretations!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Paige, that is a fun challenge. Interesting to see how everyone interprets it. How do you store the candle mats?
ReplyDeleteIt is quite a varied, isn't it, Wendy. It took me some thought to realize some people made things to actually put on the table, like coasters, table runners, a candle ring, etc. And others made a mini quilt of what sits on their table, like a vase, letters, teapot and teacup, etc.
DeleteAs for storing my candle rings, I sewed a curtain loop on the back of them. Then I hang them with my off-season wreaths on the wall in our laundry room.
So cool, that you shared the entries with us!
ReplyDeleteVery fun interpretations of what's on their tables! I'd have a hard time voting for just one! The candle mats look fun. Yours looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun show, I want to do one of those candle wreath quilts. I have seen them all over for a while now!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's beautiful! I'm glad I wasn't there to vote, too many fun and lovely entries! I do enjoy seeing how lots of people interpret the same theme.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea for a challenge! I love those rings, another item on the to-do-one-day list. That is one long show - I never have heard of one that runs that long....how many members?
ReplyDeleteYour candle wreath was my favorite before I even knew it was yours. Both are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteFun challenge!
ReplyDeleteGreat challenge! I love that candle wreath pattern. We sell it at the shop where I work and it's so beautiful. Thanks for linking to Wednesday Wait Loss.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a super fun challenge. Thanks for showing all of the entries. I do favor the one you linked up in a thumb nail.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazingly creative group of quilters. Kudos to all!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting challenge with such fabulous and diverse entries! Thanks for linking up to What I Made Monday.
ReplyDeleteI used buttons where the flaps come together on the one I made. I like the beads added in the corners of all the squares! Great idea, using a curtain ring to hang it up. I only have one wreath/candle ring and it sits on a high shelf, but your idea is a good one!
ReplyDeleteYou got a very nice turnout of Challenge entries. I'm in charge of our Challenge this year, and I will be happy if we get about 8 entries. Haven't made one of those wreaths yet, but I always admire them. Very pretty!
