πŸ’ Blossoms & Jam πŸ“

This definitely qualifies as a squirrel project for me! I saw this table center on Instagram, here.
I immediately downloaded the pattern and started sorting through my 2 1/2" squares to make a pair of "Blossoms & Jam" table centers!

Here's what I learned while I made these two table centers:
I rather haphazardly placed the squares on the first one I made. Also on this first one, I did deeper wavy line quilting:

On the second one, I staggered the squares in a checkerboard style, which I like better. And I slowed down quite a bit on the quilting and made the waves smaller. Better!

The scallop edges are the cute part, but not so much fun to make. The instructions were very brief, so I looked around online and found this great tip: cut 2 1/4" binding on the bias. Press in half. Then trim one side down to 1/4". Single fold binding is easier to deal with on the bias, and it was a neat way to get a small, even fold:

After quilting both of them, I thought they needed to have denser quilting. I want them to lay very flat! So I went back and quilted lines between every line I had already quilted. Here's the back. No, I did not miter the 24 corners!! I eased and steam pressed them, and let the creases fall where they may:

Quilt Info:
Pattern: Blossoms & Jam Table Center by Fig Tree & Co.
Size: 16" diameter
Batting: Quilter's Dream Batting--Poly
Quilting: Matchstick Waves--I made it up! It is free motion quilting.
Thread: Glide--Light Grey
Interesting Fact: I could've left the X's in the middle out, and just used more squares, as they get covered up by the lamps. But they are just too cute to leave out!!!

  5. What a beauty! (x's two) I've never seen a binding done that way before, but it does make total sense. The scalloped edges are pretty interesting and small!
