⤐ Tracie's Choose Your Own Adventure ⬷

If you read Tracie blog over at Riceford Streams, you've caught the excitement she shares about finishing this quilt top! I enjoyed it's beauty while quilting it up for her.

We tossed around a few ideas for the quilting, and settled on a modern clamshell design, Random Clams:

I prefer overcast days for photos. But the day and time I had to take photos had a lot of sun. Well, all I can say is, the quilting definition shows up great in the sunshine:

A peek at the matching back, which came in 108" extra-wide--longarm quilters love the extra-wide backings!

Don't you love these fabrics?!!๐Ÿ˜

Quilt Info:
Maker: Tracie of Riceford Streams
Pattern: Moda Bake Shop's Choose Your Own Adventure QAL
Size: 73" X 73"
Fabrics: Nest by Lella Boutique
Quilting Design: Random Clams
Batting: Quilter's Dream Batting 80/20 Natural
Thread: Glide Cream
Interesting Fact: Medallion quilts can sometimes have a mountain, or at least a mole hill, in the middle, due to adding border after border. But not Tracie's quilt--flat as a board. I can tell she pieced very carefully.

Great job, Tracie! It's a beauty!!!

  9. Wonderful! Tracie did such a nice job on this piece. The clamshells add so much texture! What's the difference between clamshells and Baptist fans?

    1. Thanks, Louise! It's no surprise that Tracie wrote this is her favorite quilt so far!

As for clamshell VS Baptist fan, they are somewhat interchangeable. But I think traditionally, Baptist fan go from left to about 3/4 the way to the right, so they lean on the next one. Clamshells go all the way from left to right, making a full arch.

  11. This quilt definitely is my colors and if I were a LA quilter I would have found it very hard to give back to Tracy. It's a good thing you always take great photos of the quilts you've done--this one is definitely for your portfolio.

  14. It's a beautiful quilt ! I am always drawn to the clamshell that is oriented this way as opposed to on it's side, but not quite got the method down yet. I have a sit down and dont use a panto.
