🌾Meadowland 🌾Number 5--Japanese Indigo!

Quilt Info:
Maker: Nancy of Grace and Peace Quilting
Pattern: Meadowland by Then Came June
Fabrics: Fabrics from Japan 🇯🇵, with the exception of the background fabric, as I'm running low on Japanese background fabrics. The background print I used does remind me of the Japanese kanji for water well though.
Size: 80" X 96"
Quilting: Stacked Snailz
Batting: Quilters Dream Batting, top layer--Wool, bottom layer--Poly
Thread: Glide--Tar Heel
Binding: Scrappy
Fun Fact: I made this top during the Meadowland QAL, along with 2,300+ other quilters. It ran from February 3rd through March 16th, 2020. This is my 5th Meadowland quilt!!!

Here's how the QAL started out, Week 1--fabric pull⬆️, cut and arrange in block combos⬇️.
Weeks 2, 3 and 4, I made eight blocks per week:
Week 5, I made six blocks, for a total of thirty blocks:
Week 6, assemble top⬇️:
And, I added in, a quilt swirl⬇️:

Next up, the quilting⬇️:

I quilted Paula's Meadowland quilt with "Stacked Snailz" and liked it so much that I decided to quilt my indigo Meadowland using the same edge-to-edge design:

The back is pieced with Japanese fabrics:

Close-up of some of the backing fabrics--maple leaves, waves, cats⬇️

More waves, fireworks, and swallows⬇️

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  1. Nancy this turned out beautifully. The fabrics are becoming my favorites. Thinking of doing something in dark blues soon, after these wedding quilts are done.

  3. Five Meadowland quilts?! And here I thought I was the only quilter who made the same pattern more than once. : ) The real question is, though: How many have you kept for yourself? I hope this blue beauty is a keeper.

  15. I adore this! Indigo blues and others from Japan are so terrific and in this quilt, they are a knock out! I love the quilting pattern you chose, it mimics one in the quilt (and it is the one I have in my stash)! This is just such a perfect quilt. Does it have a destination?

  17. I’m late to April 24th’s party! I thought I’d better sit and check out everyone’s entry. It’ll be Friday again tomorrow!
As always your quilt is stunning. The more I see Meadowland, the more I want to add it to my list of to-dos. And of course, your fabrics are fabulous. Hope you are all well and getting used to this “normal”,
