Interesting Info: Paula made this sweet quilt for her granddaughter's 3rd birthday! Her granddaughter's name means Fairy Queen, which is the theme of this quilt!!!
The backing is soft Minkee forest animals. Plus, I love this strawberry patchwork binding that Paula prepped for me to sew on for her: ⤵️

Definitely a very sweet quilt! I chortled over the old fashion and the modern looks of the various fabrics. And boy, howdy that is a terrific quilting design. I like it. But I mentioned to myself that I really don’t need any additional designs right now. I need to check my collection of Villa Rose Designs. Maybe I have the same one.
ReplyDeleteI have seen some of these fabrics in my LQS and wow! Paula did an amazing job piecing this special quilt! Your quilting design makes it even more cuddly! Great job, Ladies!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely way to play with a lot of different fabrics. Love the backing, too.
ReplyDeleteThat great texture makes it look like those fairies are just zipping all over the place! Just perfect.
ReplyDeleteA perfect quilt for a 3-year-old fairy queen! The quilting design makes me think of fairies dancing and twirling. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it was such a fun quilt to make! And your quilting is a great one to move the eye from block to block. Flows so well!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love the fairies! That backing print and strawberry binding are the perfect compliments!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pattern for using all those leftover fun kid prints from my grandchildren’s quilts. Actually, any themed novelty prints would work. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious quilt!
ReplyDeleteHow adorable! I’m so interested in the Minky backing. I’ve heard the advice to load Minky so the stretch runs parallel to the rollers rather than perpendicular. Anything else you do differently when using Minky as quilt backing? I know that on one of the quilts I did on my domestic machine a few years ago, my cotton YLI machine quilting thread was grabbing the Minky pile as stitches were formed and pulling it up through the needle holes to the front of the quilt. Switching to a slicker thread and smaller needle solved that issue eventually — but I see you’re using slippery Glide thread. The quilting looks really cool on the back, like a texture embossed into the Minky. Thanks for linking up with Long Arm Learning!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt and the little one's name! The quilt pattern is fun on it, as is the woodland creatures backing. It is a really sweet finish.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet quilt and so fitting for a Fairy Princess!!
ReplyDeleteYour clients make the cutest quilts, Nancy! You do a great job with the quilting, too!
ReplyDeleteNancy, how cool! My daughter's name is also Maeve. She is 11 and would still love this quilt with the combination of cute and fun fabrics. After we had chosen her name, a good friend told me it was also the name of an Irish warrior queen. We figure it suits our strong-minded, red-haired girl just fine! Many good wishes to another Maeve out there...
ReplyDeleteMaeve is a beautiful name, Robina! (Sorry, I don't have your email to respond directly to you). That's fun to hear that at 11 she would still love this quilt. The fairy princess part comes from Queen Mab of English literature--she was the queen of the fairies.
