The best thing that happened to us in 2020 was the birth of our granddaughter!!! There are so many fun things to sew for babies. Here are a few things I made for Laurel for Christmas!
Here's Laurel wrapped up in one of the Cuddle blankets I made for her baby shower. ⤴️ DD1 reported that is her most useful blanket, and could I make another, in a darker color. YES, of course I can! Well actually, I made two:
Item: Self-Binding Blanket by Shannon
Fabrics: Cuddle by Shannon, and Double-Gauze
Size: 36" X 36"
Interesting Info: The Cuddle/Minkee came from our LQS, and the double gauze fabric from SR Harris, our local fabric warehouse. You can see the square stitching in the middle that holds the blanket together.⤵️
Because I couldn't stop with one, here's another one I made!⤵️
Next, Fold and Go Portable Baby Mat: Our daughter had this on her baby shower wish list. But with everything being shut down and shipping delayed, it was not available for months. It looked like something I could quilt on my longarm and sew. Here's the Crate&kids version:

DD1 & SIL love dogs and have 2 adorable rescues. So, I made their Fold and Go Playmat using a dog and puppy print!⤵️
Here's how it works--fold left and right into thirds:⤵️
Fold top and bottom into fourths (These fold lines are stitched in--the check fabric made that super simple to do!):⤵️Fold again in half, and voila! Velcro closed and go!
Quilt Info:
Item: Fold and Go Portable Baby Mat, hacked from Crate&kids
Fabrics: Dogs and Puppies, navy woven check
Batting: Quilters Dream Batting Puff
Thread: Glide--Medium Brown
Quilting: Doodlebug from Urban Elementz
Interesting Info: The size when open is 38" diameter and when folded up, 9" X 12".
That's all for now! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!!!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy
