June's Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) is light blue & light green! I'm doing 6 x 6 postage stamp blocks this year, using 2 1/2" squares, mostly from leftovers bits as I'm cutting out quilts!!!
I used light blues, white background with blues, as well as some medium tone blues.
Japan is said to be the country of "blue & white". Having lived in Japan for 24 years, I have a lot of Japanese fabrics, and especially a concentration of blue prints. I went through and counted how many of these are Japanese--an average 40% of these prints are originally from Japan! That is more than any other colors I've done so far this year.
Light green was an add-on for this month:
My 2023 RSC Block Count:
January: Dark/Bright Blues 12 blocks
February: Pink 8 blocks
March: Green 4 blocks
April: Purple 4 blocks
May: Orange 4 blocks
June: Light Blue 4 blocks
June: Light Green 2 blocks
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

Your blocks are beautiful, Nancy and how wonderful to cut them out from leftover pieces as you work on other projects. It makes for it quicker when time to piece. It is fascinating to look at all of the variety of fabrics and how they come together so beautifully. This is going to be a fabulous quilt. Have a very lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting that you have lived in Japan for so long, and I didn't know that blue and white was such a common color theme there. You have some beautiful fabrics in those blocks.
ReplyDeleteLovely blocks, I love the tiny blue, and red, houses, and the greenish ladybugs! I may have recognized 2 green fabrics that I have in my scrap box. It's always great to see Japanese fabrics sprinkled throughout your blocks , full of memories and friendship.
