Kyle's❄️Kristmas❄️Kwilts

Kyle, my co-worker at our LQS, had 2 cute Christmas tops for me to quilt!

Read to the end for an update on the local quilt shop we both work at.
Quilt Info #1:
Maker: Kyle
Pattern: Twinkles from Make It Christmas with 3-Yards Quilts by Fabric Cafe
Size: 57" x 85"
Thread: Glide--Cream
Pantograph: Scandi Snowflake ⤵️ from Intelligent Quilting
Quilt Info #2:
Maker: Kyle
Pattern: Evergreen from Make It Christmas with 3-Yard Quilts by Fabric Cafe
Size: 63" x 87"
Thread: Glide--Cream
Pantograph: Mackintosh Rose ⤵️ from Urban Elementz
These are both 3-yard quilts, but Kyle told me she bought 2 yards of each of the 3 fabrics to make them larger.
You have a great start on Christmas, Kyle!!! Great job!!!

Now, that update on our local quilt shop: our quilt shop owner announced her retirement recently! Everything in the shop is currently 25% off, both in store and online. We are very busy at the quilt shop, with quilters flooding in for deals! This is the 4th week of sales, but there is still a lot of beautiful fabric left. She is not selling the shop, rather simply selling everything off.

When asked what the closing date will be, the owner replies, "When you walk in and everything is gone, then we'll close". So Kyle and I are about to lose our quilt shop jobs. I've worked there for 9 years and Kyle for quite a few more years. But that will give us more time to quilt, right?! We will miss it!

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  1. I really like the tree quilt, it looks Christmasy but doesn't scream it! I was wondering what you would do when the store closes. More quilting means you will have more quilty posts to show us:0

  2. Those quilts are yummy - Christmas quilts (followed closely by fall quilts) are my favorites! Are you sad about eventually losing your quilt shop job?

  3. These are both great holiday quilts! I have the fabric from the second quilt waiting for a project to come along. Glad you will fill your new found time with more quilting.

  4. Oh my gosh, what a loss for your community! Did the owner consider trying to sell the business instead of liquidating? Kyle's Christmas quilts are lovely. It's hard to realize that Christmas is lurking around the corner from Florida where it's still hot and humid and feels like a sequel of Groundhog Day but we're stuck on the 4th of July!

    1. The owner of our quilt shop said she did not want to sell the shop, with all the time, details and legal work that takes.

  6. Both quilts are lovely. Perfect for the holiday season.
Sad to see your local shop going. Too many are closing. What a shame.

  8. Pretty Christmas quilts, and lovely quilting designs. The roses are beautiful.
The news about the quilt shop looks like a sad one, but it's true that on the other hand it will give you more time to quilt for costumers, and yourself ;)

  9. I remember your shop fondly. We lived in Apple Valley for about 4 years and I was just beginning my quilting adventures. Nice people. Good classes. And so much fabric! We came back to Michigan in 2011 so you and I never crossed paths. But keep up the quilting; I enjoy your blogs.

  10. I love Kyle's quilts - I think the first is my favorite and I love love the Scandi Snowflake. Might need to make a quilt so I can use it! I should go shop....but I hardly need anything else in my house. Loosing your shop is hard. Even though I left before it happened, it was a lot when the shop I worked in closed. We were around the corner from it when moving my son, and I just wanted to go...so hard. Maybe you can work for Gudrun!

  11. I'm so sorry to hear this. I really miss my job at the quilt store and I know how much you'll miss yours. I suspect though that you will stay busy as you do such a great job quilting for others and making your own quilts.

  12. I’m sorry for the loss of your LQS. Our community lost ours about 11 years ago. Slowly and surely we now have 2.smaller quilt shops that started as long arm quilters in their homes. Now they both have store fronts, and thriving businesses! I hope you will enjoy your time to quilt more. And maybe a young entrepreneur will see the need and fill the gap!

  13. Beautiful job on Kyle's quilts, Nancy. I really hate you are losing your job and your shop is closing. The last one close to me is closing the end of October, and the closer one closed last year. To go to a quilt shop now, I'll have to drive a ways! But, the one closing next month was about a 45 minute drive for me anyway. It's really sad our small businesses are going away. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great week!
