On August 21st, Gudrun at GE Designs had a Stripology Quickies quilt along! The pattern is Mia, and here's my finished version!!!
Quilt Info:
Pattern: Mia from Stripology Quickies by Gudrun Erla
Size: 57" x 85"
Batting: Quilter Dream 100% Cotton Deluxe
Thread: Glide--Lightning
Pantograph: Modern Meander ⤵️ from Urban Elementz
I used fabrics from Yuzawaya in Tokyo, Japan, in every color!⤴️⤵️
More Japanese fabrics pieced together for the backing.⤵️
The Mia pattern is from Gudrun's newest book, Stripology Quickies. She did a teaching video on August 21st, which is still available on YouTube, here. You need the book, as well, to make the quilt. And having a Stripology Ruler is helpful, too. It really is a quick, fun quilt!!!
Quilt Info:
Pattern: Cut-offs from Frequency by GE Designs
Size: 20" x 18"
This quilting is a Japanese sashiko design, so it fits perfect with these Japanese indigo prints! I don't use this pantograph very often because it is difficult to keep lining it up with the previous row, especially on a lap sized quilt or larger. There's a bit more control on a small quilt like this one.I'm squeezing this mini quilt finish of mine in here. This was made from the cut-offs of my Frequency quilt, pictured below.⤵️ I didn't want to throw the trimmings out, so I arranged them into a squarish mini quilt.
It finishes 20" x 18".⤵️
Some leftover batting and backing, along with the cut-offs, makes this a free quilt, right?!Gudrun is doing a year long quilt through her new Stripology Quickies book, which includes prep videos and class videos for 12 more of the patterns in her new book. Being a big GE fan, I signed up for it. The Mia quilt along was free, but there is a class fee for these 12 quilts.
Here are the 12 patterns we'll be making ⤴️, and the schedule over the next year ⤵️. We'll see how many I'm able to make!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

ReplyDeleteLove this quilt! My goodness those Japanese fabrics are gorgeous, the prints, the colors just look so pretty together. Beautiful! The little mini is adorable. Love your quilting, as always it perfectly compliments the quilt. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilting Nancy, and I love the fabrics in both quilts! (Missy V.)

ReplyDeleteThe Mia quilt looks fun. Thanks for the link to the video! Always interesting to see how she tackles the designs. xo
ReplyDeleteOne of these days! I’ll get organized enough to justify a class from Gudrun. I absolutely love her patterns. Mia is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMia is a beauty, Nancy! I love the fabric - is it a line or scraps from your stash? That quilting design is perfect for it, too. Love your little leftovers mini - it's fun to see how you used those interesting shapes!
ReplyDeleteTwo great quilts!! I do like that modern meander - I could see it on a lot of quilts!!
ReplyDeleteLove both quilts, but especially that little mini! What a great way to use up those cutoffs, and the result is so pretty! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

I love the Mia quilt and the modern maze pantograph is stunning on it. I can see why they use it alot. The cut offs is so great. I can see that that quilting pattern would be tough to line up. I get a little right side drift, so I totally understand only doing it on a small quilt. You are doing well with your projects.
ReplyDeleteYour version of Mia is wonderful, these fabrics are beautiful together (love the cute little yellow and orange fishes!), and the Modern Meander complements it nicely! And your mini quit is lovely too, what a great use of pretty leftovers! Thank you for sharing these beauties.
ReplyDeleteCute quilt. Thanks for the link -- I took a look at it and enjoyed seeing how the block was made.
ReplyDeleteYou have created some fabulous quilts. The Japanese indigo mini is such a special bonus quilt! Thanks for sharing in my Sew & Tell party.
ReplyDeleteBoth quilts are beauties!! Gudrun has awesome patterns. I may have to check out that book and the videos.
ReplyDeleteThey're both beautiful finishes, Nancy! Your fabric choices and quilting always work so well together!
