A Work of Art 🖼️

Regina finished two more quilts on her to-do list!!! The first is a total work of art!!!
Quilt Info #1:
Maker: Regina
Size: 68" x 61"
Batting: Quilters Dream 80/20 White
Thread: Glide--Mint
Pantograph: Modern Meander ⤵️ from Urban Elementz
Regina's granddaughter went to an elementary school that studied many artists starting in kindergarten! All of the student's artwork could be seen online and ordered in a number of different mediums, like mugs, or as Regina took advantage of, on fabric!!!! These are some of her granddaughter's work from kindergarten through 3rd grade.
In the middle of the quilt is a beautiful self-portrait, Grade 2, as well as a photo of her granddaughter with her dog, then bottom, left--Glowbots, Grade 2, and a photo of a clay heart she made, Grade 3!⤵️
I'll share close-ups of some of the other artwork. Here is Monet's Waterlilies, Grade 2!⤵️
Night Owls, Grade 2!⤵️
We picked a geometric overall quilting design, Modern Meander, so as not to distract from the fun artwork!

Two cardinals, Grade 3!⤵️
Dot Mandala, Grade 2!⤵️
Autumn Landscape, Grade 3!⤵️
Eric Carle--Mr. Seahorse, Grade 1!⤵️
Van Gogh Sunflowers, Grade 1!⤵️
Black Cats like Laurel Burch, Grade 2!⤵️
LOVE Poster, Grade 2!⤵️
Fall Landscape, Grade 2!⤵️
Desert Landscape, Grade 3!⤵️
Regina created the layout herself and chose teal batik as sashing. She added the titles and school grade to each fabric square. Such a neat option made available by the school!!!
Here's the 108" backing Regina and I picked out at the LQS while it was still in business.⤴️
Regina's granddaughter is 12 years old now. Regina will add binding and a hanging sleeve so this work of art can hang in her son's office!!!
Quilt Info #2:
Maker: Regina
Pattern: Traffic Jam by Cactus Queen Quilt Co
Size: 65" x 79"
Batting: Quilters Dream 100% Cotton
Thread: Glide--Graphite
Pantograph: New Growth 2 ⤵️ from My Creative Stitches
This was a quilt kit Regina bought in Texas. She was especially drawn to the leafy print in the border and the blue print on the far right, below, and wanted a leaf motif for quilting. "New Growth 2" pantograph was a perfect choice with its combo of leaves and swirls!!!
Regina found this perfect shade of "Thatched" 108" backing at one of our LQS.⤵️
This is one quilt Regina is keeping for herself--a perfect quilt to cuddle up with!!!
Great job, Regina!!! Keep on working on that quilt list!!!

  5. The art quilt is just fabulous! You'll have to tell Regina we all love it. I've had friends turn photographs into fabric, but never tried it myself. What a family keepsake that will be!

  6. What a great idea to make a quilt of the children's art. I did something similar for my daughter's montessori school, and donated the quilt for a fundraiser. I'm happy to say it did well! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

  8. What a fun quilt, the first one is. I love that the school had an option for ordering as fabric...what a great idea. The quilting is a perfect choice on it and I am sure her father will be cheered by the quilt in his office. Love the second one, too. Its a simple pattern but fun fabrics and I can see why she liked the border fabric. She picked another great pantograph for that quilt.

  10. So often children's artwork is rolled up, secured with an elastic band and rarely seen again. What a wonderful idea to transfer images of the artwork to fabric and make those images into a quilt that will be seen and treasured, perhaps even passed down the generations. Great choice to choose a pantograph design and neutral thread to let the artwork be the star of the show.

  12. The Art quilt is fabulous! The school is doding it's students and families a great kindness is having this type of option available for their art works. Outstanding! Your quilting compliments the piece so well. I really like the leafy panto on the second quilt. I'd live to have that on one , two or more of my own quilts!

  13. Oh I love this souvenir quilt, this is such a great idea from the school! It's a wonderful quilt for her dad. I love your quilting, discreet on one and more prominent on the second. These leaves and swirls are perfect to match those pretty fabrics! Thank you for sharing your beautiful work and linking up.

  14. That first quilt is stunning. What a great way to keep artwork from school. I have not seen that sort of thing done before. I have to admire the way each of the pictures is set out in the quilt, too. I agree about it be a work of art!

  15. How fun! What a great keepsake! I'm impressed that the school would manage a program like that, to make a student's artwork available online, and in different mediums. It's certainly the best situation if a student attends the same elementary school for all six grades. I attended six different elementary schools, so if this had been offered back then... Lovely how it turned out, and the quilting panto is perfect. Nice work on the second quilt too.

  16. I'm totally in love with the child's quilt...and quite the artist she is also. Beautiful execution and color. I've seen the ads for the books...and this is even better! Sandi

  20. I love the idea of the kids artwork on a quilt. Our kids all did versions of Monet's waterlilies when they were really little too, I had them up on the kitchen wall for years!
