Here is my 8th quilt in the Stripology Quickies Club quilt along, Frankie!!!
Quilt Info:
Pattern: Frankie from GE Designs
Size: 66" x 88"
Batting: Quilters Dream 100% Cotton, White
Thread: Glide--Tango
These are all Tula Pink prints, some new, some not so new.
A few close-ups of the many Tula Pink prints I used...The black and white are both Grunge.
The striped binding is also from Tula Pink.⤵️
This backing is half of a duvet cover from IKEA. ⤵️ I love their large, graphic designs! This was a king-size duvet cover on clearance for $19.99. After trimming off the seam allowances I had a piece of fabric 86" x 100". I have one more piece the same size and two pillowcases that I'll use for table runner or wall hanging backings. The fiber content is 54% cotton/46% rayon, which I'm good with. I steer away from the duvet covers that have any polyester in them. I pre-wash all IKEA duvet covers before quilting.I'm happy with this colorful quilt! I need to use my Tula Pink collection more often!!!
Below are my first 8 quilts from the yearlong Stripology Quickies Club.⤵️
The next quilt, Holly, was released on July 30th. I am working on mine right now!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

Wow! I look at it one way I see a design, look at it again and see another design. I am not a big fan of Tula but you sure made those fabrics all work together so nicely!
ReplyDeleteI used at least 30 different Tula prints!
DeleteYummy quilt! The Tula (I always type "Tulsa" - I grew up near it!) fabric is perfectly showcased with the black Grunge. I absolutely love the backing with it, and your quilting is perfect. Will you keep this one?
ReplyDeleteFor now it's on our daughter's bed. I added a photo of her bedroom.
DeletePerfect!
DeleteThis is simply gorgeous. I love Tula and this is a great way to use her fabrics. That striped binding adds the perfect touch. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

So gorgeous, Nancy and it looks amazing on your bed . The sweet afghan matches it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely finish! It is a fun patchwork design and your quilting fits well. It does "scream" Tula from first sight - obviously - which one may or may not like - but I find the two neutrals complement it well and "tone it down". xo
ReplyDeleteLove the bright happy fabrics for your Frankie quilt. Super finish.
ReplyDeleteFrankie is amazing! I love all the Tula together, the black and white sets it nicely. You are so clever to use a duvet cover for backings. I would have never considered it. Beautiful quilting, as always.
ReplyDeleteTHAT IS FABULOUS!! I love this riot of color - all surrounded by the black and white . What a super cool quilt - and it has that 3D vibe.. Great job!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, Nancy -- the design, your fabric choices (perfect back) and your quilting.
ReplyDeleteFrankie is my favorite to date. I just love the way colors pop against black and white. You have the best luck with IREA duvet covers. This one is so pretty it makes the quilt reversible.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt! I love the panto and the backing you picked, too! Over 30 prints is quilt the collection to make this beauty!
ReplyDeleteWow! This one sings!! It is so striking. Good job all around.
ReplyDeleteWow! This one is a stunner! I think it's the jarring graphic design, created by slashes of black, that make the whole thing so eye-popping. Love it! Looks like the perfect backing too. I haven't been to an IKEA in at least eight years, so looking for fabric there wouldn't have occurred to me. Great work! As for that quilting design... I adore it. I'm already contemplating: "Could I create it on my domestic?" Maybe. Thanks for all the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting design. It is interesting the way it tricks the eye like an illusion.
ReplyDeleteI find I have to keep going back to look at it.
The Tula Pink fabrics look perfect in it.
Love that backing, too.
What a gorgeous, eye-popping design. I admire people like you that's so crafty and create this awesomeness.

Great quilt. I've been looking at getting that Hills and Valleys design myself. After seeing it on your quilt I really want to get it now! You did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteFrankie reminds me of looking through a kaleidoscope. Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I love the illusion effect, and I love the bold and bright fabrics together! Frankie is now one of my Stripology Quickies favorite! Well done with the Ikea backing, and the Hills and Valleys panto add a little touch of more craziness ;) Thank you for sharing and linking up!
ReplyDeleteI just love this, Nancy!! Of course, I really love Tula's fabrics and setting them off with the black and white really makes it shine. This is a great pattern. I may have to grab this one. And maybe next year, I can join in the Stripology club! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.
ReplyDeletethe mix of print and plain works so well here. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe movement in this quilt is fantastic! The Tula prints shine in the design and your quilting motif pulls us right in, too. And I always love using a Tula stripe for binding; the perfect finishing touch!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, what a gorgeous quilt! Your Tula Pink fabrics look great and the Ikea back is a great idea.
