Susan put together two stunning ribbon quilts for girlfriends who have battled cancer.
Maker: Susan
Fabrics: Strength in Pink from Riley Blake Designs
Size: 52" x 69"
Batting: Quilters Dream 100% Cotton, White
Thread: Glide--Pink
Pantograph: Ribbon Echo ⤵️ from Sew Shabby Pantos
"Ribbon Echo" is the perfect pantograph for these quilts.⤴️⤵️ Both quilts start with the same patchwork ribbon panel for the center.
Susan used this free pattern as the basis for her quilt: Strength In Pink Hope Quilt. She noted that rather than chop fabric up and sew it back together, she used a patchwork print for the inner border on the first quilt. She then went on to use other prints from the fabric line for the other patchwork borders, too.The encouraging words include: Courage, Strength, Hope, Support, Faith. Flannel backs make these quilts super soft and cuddleworthy!
Susan brought me the first quilt on Sunday. I quilted it Sunday evening. Susan put the binding on it Monday, in time to bring it to her friend Monday evening after her cancer treatment. She was thrilled! The second quilt is going to her friend who is a cancer survivor.
A wonderful way to encourage, support and love your friends, Susan!!!
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

How sweet! I don't think I've seen a ribbon quilt before, and I love the way they are pieced. The pink scraps are just beautiful. I wish I had known about minkie when I did a quilt for my niece, who is a cancer survivor. I know now what a comfort it is to cuddle into it!
ReplyDeleteSo thoughtful of Susan and how great you could quilt it up right away!
ReplyDeleteThese are great quilt! I like the simplicity of the design but they certainly make a statement. Susan's friends will feel the love as they use them.
ReplyDeleteThese quilts and Susan's gifts are lovely. I love the panels and how they are bordered, love the flanel backing too. And of course your quilting, everything is perfect in there for showing love and support. Thank you so much for sharing and linking up with P&Q.
