I pieced my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt top together this month. Evidently I didn't plan the quilt math out because it came out quite large--66" x 90"! My throw size quilt goal is around 60" x 80".
I'm thinking of removing two horizontal rows. The blocks I take out can go toward making a baby quilt. I'd like to remove one vertical row but that is a lot more work and would make the quilt rows asymmetrical.
Speaking of baby quilts, I finished 3 this month! Some of these go to family and friends, most go to Bundles of Love, a local charity delivering bundles of newborn baby items to families in need here in Minnesota.
Size: 36" x 45"
Pattern: Honey Bouquet from Villa Rosa Designs
Batting: Quilters Dream Cotton
Thread: Affinity--Brunette
When making these quilts, I start with a few "hero" blocks that are multi-colored and they might be a novelty print, then add similar colors from my stack of cut rectangles.
Here are a couple of hero prints--a man, woman & child, hearts and hands, as well as a teddy bear print.⤵️Bells, ⤴️ butterflies ⤵️ and flowers. ⤵️ I don't use more than 2 of a single print, with a total of 30 rectangles.
"Diamond Loops" pantograph. You probably can't tell, but the top thread is a variegated gold. ⤴️ The bobbin is solid gold. ⤵️My Quilt Info #2:
Size: 36" x 45"
Pattern: Honey Bouquet from Villa Rosa Designs
Batting: Quilters Dream Cotton
Thread: Glide--Pink
Pantograph: Romance from Mistletoe Quilting
Some of the "hero" prints in this quilt include a Paddington Bear print and a Miss Bunny print! ⤵️ Miss Bunny is Thumper's love interest in the Bambi movie.
Striped binding! 🩷
I recently found this grey buffalo plaid on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $3/yard!!! I took the whole bolt, 8 yards or so. It makes a lovely, soft backing for these baby quilts!!! ⤵️
Putting together pink baby quilts seems easy--I have a lot of pink to choose from!
My Quilt Info #3:
Size: 36" x 45"
Pattern: Honey Bouquet from Villa Rosa Designs
Batting: Quilters Dream Cotton
Thread: Glide--Light Turquoise
Pantograph: Friction from Karlee Porter
These "hero" prints all came from Japan--different popular cartoon characters that are known in Japan.Yes, including Snoopy,⤵️ who is also well-known in Japan!
I love it when I have the perfect striped fabric in my collection to use as binding!!!⤵️
More of that $3/yard buffalo print flannel! ⤵️ I pre-wash it as flannel shrinks more than regular cotton fabric.
This one is going to my nephew and his wife for their newborn baby boy!
I have a big stack of rectangles cut out for more baby quilts, plus several tops pieced. I just need to find time to quilt and bind them.
Linking up with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge at So Scrappy on Saturday.
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy
