This is my second year to sew along with Bonnie Hunter and her
(free!) Black-Friday-to-New-Years mystery quilt. You can see my finished En Provence from last year's mystery here at the very end.
I'm using the colors she suggested, because I've never made a quilt out of this color combo before. I'm covering all the stash--old, new and Japanese.
This year's colors:
Aquas
Warm and toasty chocolate browns
Coral to salmon to melons
White to cream to beige neutrals
Bonnie visited us here in Minnesota last August! After a trunk show and classes, she visited relatives in Spicer, Minnesota on Ringo Lake. These are her two photos borrowed from her site that inspired this quilt.
The first clue is to make nine patches:
This is going to be great!!! Thank you, Bonnie!
Half the fun of this mystery quilt is the community. Check out everyone's progress on Bonnie's link-up page here, near the bottom.

ReplyDeleteI kinda fell for the colors, too.
ReplyDeleteI love your nine patches! I am enjoying joining in this time around.
ReplyDeleteGreat start to your mystery quilt. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteLooking good! That's cool that your state inspired this quilt. Did you go to her class? I've never met her in person, but have made 5 or 6 mystery quilts and always had fun.
ReplyDeleteThis looks great, Nancy. I love the mix of blues. And wow en Provence is extraordinary! Look forward to seeing this come together.
ReplyDeleteI have never made one of Bonnie's mystery quilts, but have used a few of her free patterns. I love the colors you are using, gonna be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI like your little nine patches, Nancy! It will be fun to see this quilt come together. I gave some thought to joining in, but I don't think I have enough of the aqua or corals in my stash.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun picture - all those fun colored nine-patch blocks. I love those colors together. ~smile~ Roseanne
I can't wait to see the progress. I'm not joining in right now, but might later if I can get my must do quilts done.
ReplyDeleteLooking fantastic already. I've changed the colours, but not totally. I didn't have aqua and brown, so I took blue and black.
ReplyDelete9-patches are so lovely! I may have to check out the fun!
ReplyDeleteLove those teals, and the other fabrics you have to chosen to go with it! Can't wait to see how this one turns out. Thanks for sharing on Midweek Makers 100 today.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the great post. Can you please add a link back to the link-up post on my blog http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2017/11/on-ringo-lake-mystery-monday-link-up.html and remove the unit count from your post? I have respectfully asked that we not share piece counts, unit counts and unit sizes through social media. Thank you. :)
ReplyDeleteLove everything about your selection of fabrics. It will become an awesome quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour fabrics look so wonderful! I'm another MN quilter who had the chance to see Bonnie when she was here this summer, and am quilting along again with this mystery too. Such fun!
ReplyDeleteYour fabrics are really great - this is going to be gorgeous
