This is the third year in a row that my sister, Quilter Bonnie, and I sewed together on National Sew a Jelly Roll Day. This quilt holiday happens yearly on the third Saturday in September, with it falling on September 21st this year.
The point of the celebration is to take out one of those jelly rolls we've been saving, because they are just too cute to use, untie the ribbon and sew something.
Quilt Info:
Pattern: Meet In the Middle, by Jo's Country Junction-a free pattern!
Jelly Roll: Juniper Berry by BasicGrey/Moda
Size: 65" X 79"
Quilting: Jolly Holly
Batting: Quilter's Dream Batting, 80/20 Natural
Thread: Glide--Creme
Interesting Fact: This year we wanted a simple pattern, but didn't want to do the jelly roll race. This pattern was the perfect choice, and using the Stripology ruler made the cutting go super fast, too!

I pieced together random Christmas yardage for the back (yes, some of my trees ended up upside down!):

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy
Linking up with Midweek Makers, Wednesday Wait Loss, Needle & Thread Thursday, Put Your Foot Down, TGIFF, Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Friday Foto Fun, Finished or Not Friday, From Bolt To Beauty.

This is so festive that it brings on the Christmas cheer two months ahead of schedule :-)
ReplyDeleteAs usual your quilting is exquisite!!!
I love your quilt! This pattern is so nice for showcasing your beautiful quilting, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteA great Christmas quilt without it screaming Christmas. Love your panto decision for it!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great alternative to the jelly roll race. I wonder how it would look in a pyramid fashion with the strips peaking in the middle of the quilt. I may give it a try.
ReplyDeleteGreat finish, I have 3 sets of strips I need to use up so maybe I will check out this pattern. I love my stripology ruler. Thank you for linking up to Put your foot down.
ReplyDeleteEep! I love Basic Grey's Christmas lines. It was the perfect collection for this simple but striking pattern. I'm with Vicki ... this project is more "winter" than "Christmas." I think you can have it up on your couch through February! : )
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and creative use of that lovely jelly roll and such a wonderful way to spend time with your sister :-) My sister doesn't quilt but lives close to me now. She brings her knitting and knits while I sew. It's a blessing!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving this quilt with those Christmas fabrics, one of my favorite! And nice to have a link to the free pattern. This just might end up on my Bucket List.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt! Thanks for sharing the pattern, too. I didn't sew on the official day, but definitely have a jelly roll that needs to be sewn up. It's all red and white fabrics and I'm thinking blue background with make a nice patriot piece :)
ReplyDeleteI like the quilt front and back, AND the quilting is lovely on it. I always like curves with angled piecing.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy! I just love that you are able to sew with your sister. That's just the best, isn't it?!! I get to sew with my bestie every day, but I still appreciate it. Gorgeous quilt and perfect quilting design to highlight all the best things about the quilt. Each time you use it, you'll think of your sissy and smile. And those trees are only upside down until you turn the quilt around! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this adorable pattern. What a great scrap-buster this could be!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful quilt and a nice pattern.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun spending my time with you quilting on national Quilt a Jelly Roll Day! Your quilt turned out so adorable. I'm glad that we are quilting sisters!

ReplyDeleteLove your jelly roll quilt from Jo's pattern. Beautiful finish.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt and great way to use a jelly roll
ReplyDeleteJust stunning!! I think I need to use this method for a Charity quilt!
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt, and the photo op too! You are ready to go for that "fluffy white stuff season" -- I can't bear to say it yet. LOL
ReplyDeleteGorgeous
