I recently bought this striped fabric, called "Tick Tock Stripe", from the Tula Pink "Chipper" line. I based my quilt on the colors in this striped fabric, then used it for the binding:

Quilt Info:
Pattern: Triple Barnstar by Amy Gibson
Size: 91" X 91"
Fabrics: Various prints by Tula Pink, "White Page" Grunge background
Batting: Quilter's Dream Batting, 80/20 white
Backing: pieced from leftover extra-wide backing fabrics
Quilting: Sashiko
Thread: Glide White
Interesting Fact: The original pattern finishes at 72" square. I wanted a larger quilt for a queen size bed, so I carried the design out to another set of squares all around the outside to bring it up to 91" square. Although I used stash, this pattern can be made from 10" squares.

Grace & peace!!! ~Nancy

Nancy, this is beautiful. I love the fabrics you used and where you used them. I had to go look at the original pattern to see how you extended. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYou just can't go wrong with those bright Tula colors. Combine them with a star pattern, and you have a beautiful quilt! Love the quilt design too - so cool!

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt! I love that quilting design too. Are you using a computer for this or is this hand guided? I would love to try that design.
ReplyDeleteMy quilting here is hand guided with a laser light and using the paper pantograph called "Sashiko".
DeleteI am amazed that anyone could follow such an intricate paper pantograph as beautifully as you did. This is beautiful and I love your solution for enlarging the star. Great job!
DeleteNancy, I love the star design and your bright fabrics. It’ll add so much cheer to a bedroom. Your work is always beautiful.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love Tula fabrics too. But it's really hard to cut into them. Congratulations on a stunner!
ReplyDeleteWow, I had to look at the original pattern, and then your quilt, to see what you meant by making it larger. It really seems to need to be drawn outward like you have done. I love it! And the quilting is the perfect choice.
ReplyDeleteI've made Amy's Barn Star a couple of times too - I love this bright scrappy version, can't go wrong with Tula Pink!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cheerful finish, thank you for linking up to Put your foot down. I have read a lot about Tula Pink fabric but have never used it myself.
ReplyDeleteI am not usually a big Tula fan but the way you put this together is just gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely! That quilting has such great texture. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely and a great pattern to use up scraps. Must remember it. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWow I love this quilt! Great job!
ReplyDeleteWow -- 91 x 91! But such a strong graphic pattern that it would be effective even if resized.
ReplyDeleteI’m not a huge Tula Pink fabric fan, I think all the strong colors and design intimidate me. But I love this quilt! You rock, Nancy!!
ReplyDeleteLots of gorgeous colours in this quilt. I really like the combination.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! At first blush, I thought this was a small wall hanging, but the in-process quilting shot proved me wrong. The large-scale piecing really lends to Tula's intricate fabric designs. Well done!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy! Wowee - this is a stunner. The fabrics look fabulous, and isn't it nice to pull these fabrics from your stash?! I just LOVE the quilting pattern you used. It really gives the piece nice texture without drawing away from the overall design. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteThis is really fun. I'm currently trying to use up some scraps, so I wonder how it would look with crumb pieced blocks. I love it with your Tula Pink fabrics.
ReplyDeleteGreat design and quilting pattern, I really like this finish!
ReplyDeleteSuch a vibrant quilt, and wonderful quilting too!! Great finish!
