This is my 800th quilt to quilt on my longarm!!! After making so many gingham baby quilts, I thought I'd make a gingham throw size quilt for myself!
Quilt Info:
Fabrics: Linework by Tula Pink
Gingham Squares: cut at 6"
Size: 61" X 82"
Batting: Quilters Dream Orient
Thread: Glide--White
Quilting: Chunky Knit Panto ⤵️ from Tawny at Simply Fabulous Quilting
I told my DH I was going to knit a quilt on the day I quilted this! I love how this pantograph looks like the stockinette stitch in knitting!!!⤴️⤵️
Interesting Info: I stitched this top together on a recent road trip to California, so I have some photos in the flimsy stage from along the way. This is the orange tree in the backyard of DH's family home. ⤵️With some poppies, the California state flower ⤵️
Along the Virginia Corridor Trailway ⤴️ ⤵️ This used to be a train line that ran behind DH's family home. Now it's a well-used walkway!
The Virginia Corridor Trailway is 5 miles long and is beautifully landscaped. This is not in the state of Virginia, rather it runs alongside Virginia Avenue at its beginning! ⤵️
This was taken at Capitol Reef National Park in Utah! ⤵️ The sights along the hiking paths here were breathtaking! We also picked our own apricots from the orchard in the park for $1/pound and they were absolutely delicious!
Scotts Bluff National Monument in Nebraska! ⤵️
Now, back to the finished quilt top! I used 4 different Tula Pink prints for the medium tone in this gingham quilt--pandas, lemurs, skunks and zebras!

I used an extra-wide backing. ⤵️
The black and white stripe fabric in this line is perfect for binding! ⤴️ ⤵️

Nancy, that is so pretty! You really have figured out the key to the gingham look with the way you lay out the darks, mediums, and lights. I love the black white animal prints with the pops of color here and there. Beautiful finish!
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool quilt, the backing is perfect, and the quilting is so fun! I'm so glad this one is for you! Congrats on the 800th! Yippee!
ReplyDeleteI love gingham quilts! This one is adorable with the fabrics you chose. The "knitting" design of the quilting was a great choice. Congrats on your 800th! I want to be you when I grow up. LOL Happy stitching! -Andrea
ReplyDelete800! OY, that's a lot of quilts! And this one is so pretty. I love how the prints kind of sneak up on you as you get closer. You have just expanded my ideas for making this very versatile quilt. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWow to the number 800! Your fingers have been busy! I would be so confused trying to sort out a gingham look but you have nailed it...so clever!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty. Love all the different fabrics you are using, and the wonderful backgrounds for the photo opportunity. 800 quilts - that is amazing!

So when did you start with quilt #1? I never counted really, but I am curious how many I have done. Even with doing more than three prints the gingham still really stands out. Keep up the great work Nancy!
ReplyDeleteGood question, Vicki!! I quilted my first quilt on my longarm on July 16, 2012--9 years ago!
DeleteYeah on the 800th! I love your pretty version of this cute quilt! I think I will try to make one, yours are so beautiful 😉
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 800! I have the Linework fabric and am looking for ideas. Yours is perfect and I'm liking the gingham look.
ReplyDeleteThis one is another of my favorites. Love the quilting - you do so great on selecting the pattern for each quilt. They all blend well with the design and color of the quilt top! Looks like you had a great trip. Were you in an RV? Hugs
ReplyDeleteWe had a great road trip! We stayed in various Airbnbs.
DeleteCongrats on 800 quilts quilted! So you took a small machine or is this one hand pieced? What fun to document your stops with photos of the quilt!
ReplyDeleteI pieced it on DH's grandma's 1953 Singer sewing machine, while we stayed with family.
Delete800 Quilts - Amazing and congratulations. I love your gingham quilt and what a history it has already getting to travel to special locations. Love it. Have a fabulous weekend and happy quilting.
ReplyDelete800!!! Congratulations! This is a gorgeous little quilt...fun gingham, fun fabrics, fun photos and fun quilting design. So interesting to see so many of these fast gorgeous gingham quilts!
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful gingham quilt, extra special as this one is for you. I loved the way you have used a variety of medium prints instead of all plains for your mediums.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely gingham quilt! I just love black and white everything and the quilting is very cool
ReplyDeleteWow! 800 quilts! That is amazing. And what a great quilt to celebrate the milestone. It looks amazing. Love your choice of fabric. It works so well in this design. And of course i love the pantograph, too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a lovely road trip with the quilt top photos. And apricots! Yum!
You stitched it while on a road trip??? Hand sewn? Or a small sewing machine in a camper?
ReplyDeleteThat was quite the journey for this quilt. Love the quilting pattern but I am supremely jealous of the $1 apricot picking. But the striped binding is totally my jam :-)
Congrats on 800!! and the 800th one is awesome!! LOVE that black and white!
ReplyDelete800--WOW!!!!!! And what a stunner for that milestone! I love the look of this, both close up so you can see the animal prints and from further back to admire the gingham effect. Lovely quilt, and I'm glad you are keeping this one!
ReplyDeleteYou’ve been at this for a while. Or so the number 800 would suggest. This is a gorgeous quilt. Love the photos across the country. It reminds me of Flat Stanley only the adult quilter version! Where in Ca does the family live. I lived many years in Ca both north and soup this.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy, thanks so much for sharing parts of your trip through your quilt. Your quilt is gorgeous. Take care.
