Phoenix🐦SAL

On Saturday, November 6th, Gudrun of GE Designs taught her newest pattern, Phoenix, to several thousand of us quilters in a sew along via YouTube! My friend, Lynn, came over and we sewed our quilts together!!! Here's my finished quilt: ⤵️
Quilt Info
Maker: Me!
Pattern: Phoenix by GE Designs
Fabrics: Scrappenstance Flannel by Kim Diehl
Size: 84" X 108"
Batting: Quilters Dream Wool
Thread: Glide--Oyster
Pantograph: Chevrons 1 ⤵️ from Intelligent Quilting
Interesting Info: Gudrun came live on YouTube five times that day at 9 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM and 5 PM and gave lessons on the next step. Now you can watch them on your own schedule. Check out the links at GE Designs.
Here are the two basic blocks: ⤵️
I used this turquoise plaid for the backing. The parts I trimmed off became the binding. ⤵️
My new labels arrived!!! ⤵️ The first time I ordered labels, I got 50, the second time 100, and this time I ordered 200 from the Dutch Label Shop.
Here's Lynn's Phoenix quilt, made from Japanese Shibori prints and Grunge Creme!!! ⤵️
You can see many versions and variations of the Phoenix quilt on Facebook in "Gudrun's Quilt Crew"!!!

Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

  1. They are so pretty - I love the Kin Diehl flannels, and your quilting design on that quilt is spot on! I think I'd like this design for my bed - will have to think on that!

  5. Kim Deihl is a great woman and I love this quilt design. I'm going to have to go save to favorites in the hopes of some day giving it a try. I can only dream of ever having a long arm.

  6. I did this QAL also. My version did not turn out nearly as vibrant as yours did. Lovely combination of fabrics and color.

  7. Two great quilts! I've always had a soft spot for blue Japanese fabrics, and I really love the 'chevron' quilting on your one!

  16. How fun to spend time with a quilting buddy! And it's neat to see the difference in the design when difference color sequences are used.
