Sunny requested one of the same pantographs that I used on her last two quilts. Obsidian adds great texture!!! ⤴️ ⤵️
Interesting Info: Sunny made this fun braid quilt from thrift store neckties! She backed each one with fusible interfacing, which I was very glad about! It gave the quilt good body for quilting. These neckties individually are so interesting!!!

What a nice quilt those ties make. And, yep very interesting collection. My hubby would never have worn most of them. Oh well. Obsidian is an interesting design. But, I will be strong and not ever go look at it!
ReplyDeleteWow what a lot of different print ties. Before you said she interfaced each one, I was thinking what a bear it must have been to sew them.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful, unique quilt! And what a great idea to use the braid pattern and showcase all those gorgeous ties. The quilting is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a unique and beautiful quilt! That quilting was the perfect accent!
ReplyDeleteThose neckties are so fun! the red sashing really gives a pop to the quilt, and your quilting is spot on!
ReplyDeleteThere must have been some flashy dressers in Sunny's "neighbourhood"! What a great quilt - and it would be a great pattern to use as a memory quilt using grandpa's ties...
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of ties. Wow. Great effect especially with the added quilting.
ReplyDeleteA real beauty! And so timely to see because I just got a big bunch of neckties given to me by a guild friend, along with the challenge to make "something".
ReplyDeleteNeckties? I had to look closely. I even showed my husband. He said he'd offer up some of his many ties hanging in his closet, lol. I love the sashing between the rows. And your quilting looks great!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun quilt! I don't know that I would have the patience to make all those pieces with interfacing but I am sure it is well worth it. Lovely quilting to tie it all together!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful use of neckties, i love this quilt! And your Obsidian quilting adds a lot of curves and swirls in all these angles, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing ;)
