Welcome to my 2022 Quilt Planning post! Yvonne at Quilting Jetgirl hosts a link party every year, and gives us an opportunity to share our plans for the coming year and link up with other quilters!!
First of all, let's look at my goals for 2021. I listed 13 Resolution quilts I wanted to work on:
In 2021, I participated in two unique link parties, National Dog Day and National Cat Day quilt link parties hosted by Susan at QuiltFabrications. In both cases I had quilt swap blocks from my Japanese quilt friends that I assembled and finished for those special link parties.
In going through envelopes looking for these blocks, I came across eight other groups of swap blocks from my Japanese friends. We all lived in Fuchu, Tokyo, Japan in the 2000's and met to quilt together once a month. We took the summer months off and did "summer homework" with a theme or block pattern and we made enough to swap between the six of us. We continue to do our summer homework, even though most of us have moved to different places, and now we have switched to every other summer.
My second goal this year is to assemble, quilt and finish those eight groups of blocks. The national days worked out well as deadlines to finish my first two sets of blocks in 2021, so I searched out national days to fit the theme of each of the remaining 8 groups of blocks! Here are the days for my eight sets of blocks in 2022:
January 1: New Years Day
March 6: National Dress Day
March 21: National Flower Day
April 1: Cherry Blossom Day
June 5: National Hot Air Balloon Day
July 17: National Ice Cream Day
September 13: National Positive Thinking Day
December 10: Lucy Boston's Birthday
Come back on these special days and see my finished quilts!!! You can sign up for email updates on the top right side of my blog, above! See you on January 1st for the first group of blocks!!!
I want to add this wisdom here at the end, from Proverbs 16:9, "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps."
Grace and peace!!! ~Nancy

ReplyDeleteIt is so good that you have a plan for your quilting. I often have projects that I have totally forgotten about because I haven't written them down. Good job on your productivity over the last year!

ReplyDeleteI love that you are tying the quilts to fun dates. I am just starting my list, without looking at what was left on last years or hiding in some odd corner. It looks to be a busy year for you, good luck with your new goals.
